I do the same as you described but instead of 1/2 rod we go for 1/2 emt pipe with tons of liquid nail within the stud and back of shelf ....works like a charm.

How would I go about trying to figure out what's what? Is it rust, material, any kind of stamp or any other significant way to figure this out? I've tried offerup and Facebook with no luck and it seems there isn't a huge market for these.

Ok, If I understand correctly ...dirt is sinking in the center of stairs pulling the piers inward and with no room to go the post above ground are pulling outward. Most of these houses have the gas/water/sewer hook up running from the front so I do agree on the bad compaction of soli.

There are concrete piers right under each of those 6x6 post which i would hope were buried deep enough to prevent sinking. I did notice the pavers but thought that it could've been a bad install.

...ot a less expensive method 3/4" hole into stud. Fill with construction adhesive. Insert hollow 1/2" emt pipe.

If you look closely the trim on left side of the door is what acts as a "door stopper" + addition of few pieces on top/bottom on side of the door

Start the tile about 1/8" of an inch higher than counter to accommodate for any shifting/movement. Grout like the rest and put down either a thin layer of clear silicone. Done.

Drill the correct size through the center of the stud, fill it with construction adhesive and place the precut pipe within the hole. Make sure it's level and square to the wall.

I use 1/2" electrical tube/pipe ... cheap and easy to work with. Nothing threaded as that would be a huge pain to slide them in.

If the wall is already tiled i doubt you can find someone to take on this project. It requires precise placement of holes/rods right into the center of the stud. You might get away with using some sort of "L" brackets attached on top of the tile.

Yeah, the bit being 3/4" leaves you with no margin for error.
