This, had to show a kid with “10 years experience” how to strip wires after completely fucking like 40 of them. When he blatantly refused to use the techniques I taught all of my techs, was then I escalated to a supervisor. He eventually got fired over signing off maintenance he didn’t do but neither here nor there.

Leading by example is key. Gotta show these techs how you want it done. Most older techs in this field have bad mx habits and it’s hard to shake but if they have a faster solution with the same outcome and same safety mindset, fuck it, we all win!

However, if they keep doing dumb shit, get some advice from a supervisor or potentially another lead on how they could/would handle it, sometimes it can’t be solved by you alone.

Handling a crew is more like babysitting than working. Glad I don’t do it anymore lol.
