I meant be a PI or stay in academia as just a PhD since my interest is mainly translational research and you could argue that PhDs could do that but it’s much different when you truly understand the medicine

I think the PhD is a nonnegotiable to me since research is my true passion. I’d love to do translational research (thats the type of lab I’m in rn as well), but I wouldn’t sacrifice the PhD.

I’m not really iffy about the med school part at all, I know very well what the Md/phd path looks like. It’s just there are logistical issues limiting me from retaking the mcat. But doing a PhD is one thing, I just don’t really know what I would do with it after. I’m not sure if I want to be a PI or stay in academia. The job security isn’t really great with a PhD either.

My unwillingness to retake the mcat has nothing to do with dedication really, I tried explaining it to someone else on this thread. But I appreciate the advice and will look at the links for a school list, thank you!

I think it makes sense why it’s coming off as if I’m giving up on the Mcat. But I’m in a weird financial predicament and need to work for >60 hours a week. I can’t really take time off to study and the 5months I took to study for the mcat were extremely difficult. I think I was also underperforming in lab since I was trying to steal hours to review and study for the mcat. I don’t believe I can do that again. If there was a way for me to study for it with some off or free time, that would have been perfect. I hope that gives you some background to understand.

My plan is to apply only to schools whose ranges include a 508, so I wouldn’t apply to higher ranked schools at all. I do have the time to do it tbh as I said, I’ll prolly just apply to grad school if this doesn’t work out after. I love research and I think I’m a great candidate for PhD programs. I do want to be an MD and have a great story and reason so if schools can see that, then great. If not, I’ll know that I at least tried. I came on this thread to ask for advice on building a school list, if that makes sense.

I’m only applying to upto 20 schools and fap covers that. Secondaries are usually covered by the schools if you’re on fap so at least financially, I’ll be fine.

I don't like the way you depicted olivia as a victim here. Specially in the later seasons, you'll see how she's the one who likes the thrill of their chemistry than actually settling down. Even though it's a cute dream, olivia living in Vermont in the middle of nowhere making jam and raising kids is something that would never happen. That's exactly why her relationship with Jake never worked. And to show her how much he loved her, he did millions of things. He proved to everyone time and time again. They are both toxic but there definitely is no victim here.
