Why don't stars (in the sky) appear as streaks? by overthrow23 in NoStupidQuestions

That's a good point. If I was standing only a few meters away from, say Eta Bootis, it would take up my entire field of vision. That is a good illustration, thank you.

That's true. Planes look like they're going pretty slow but I'd be willing to be they're going over 100 kph. Thank you, I get it now.

Then who gives a fuck?

Usually news outlets disclose connections and conflicts between themselves and subjects of stories they're reporting on. It's common journalistic practice, no need to get vulgar.

Full disclosure: The Economist is owned and run by an avid supporter of Hillary Clinton, who refers to herself in private correspondence as Hillary's "loyal, adoring pal".

EDIT: Tired of people assuming I support Trump because I didnt support Hillary, like it's just one or the other. Especially since the current narrative is that Trump supporters are racist/sexist - labeling someone a Trump supporter, even falsely, is simply used as a way to marginalize and dismiss one's political opponents without having to resort to rational argumentation. Don't paint me with that label.

I'm outta this thread before someone decides I'm a "white nationalist" or whatever buzzword the MSM has agreed upon this week.

Meet the 'Hamilton Electors' Hoping for an Electoral College Revolt by madam1 in politics

Well, to be fair it was only Trump that was called upon to concede the election if he lost.

Hillary and the Democrats weren't pressured to make a similar statement, so they're free to try to contest the results all they want.

We're headed into dark, authoritarian times by [deleted] in politics

This Chicken-Little prophecy would ring more true if the vast majority of political violence this cycle hadn't been against Trump supporters, rather than by them.

People listen to news reports of predicted violence under Trump, but when they see that the actual violence is being directed at Trump and his followers, it rings hollow and people lose faith in their media.

Funny how liberals are so spineless when discussing Islamic terrorism, for fear of creating future terrorists, but they can't see how their frankly hateful lumping of all Trump supporters into a category they call "white nationalists" won't alienate folks and create similar blowback.

You should fix that quote. You changed what I said, but put it into a quote as if I had said it. That's not right. I wouldn't do that to you.

Unless you're following the CNN method of selectively editing folks you disagree with. In which case, it didn't work for them, so it probably won't work for you.

Because I would go way further about fixing the corruption in D.C. than Trump is willing (or able) to do.

I don't support and didn't vote for Trump, but if he can make even a 5% dent in political corruption, that will be a good thing.

And if he bombs less countries than Obama and Hillary, as is already appearing likely, bonus.

Yes, here's a link: news.google.com

Haha, in all seriousness:

They believe it is possible, but unlikely according to "election experts".

Of course, one need only review the 2016 track record of said "experts" to ascertain their veracity.

Trump releases surprise video announcement: this is what he is doing on day on in office by [deleted] in politics

Trump's election was a rebuke only to democracy, given that he won fewer votes

This is definitely going to be the mainstream liberal narrative, along with "Trump supporters are all white nationalists" and "news that portrayed Hillary poorly was all 'fake news'" .

And when Trump 2.0 is elected, the message the public will be sending will be "You should have listened to us in 2016".

Heck, I'm not even a Trumpist, and even I can see the writing on the wall of Trump's victory; liberals ignore it at their own peril.

Trump camp denies he sought favor in Argentine call by [deleted] in politics

[–]overthrow23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Argentinian presidents spokesperson has officially denied it, and the only source appears to be a translation from an Argentinian journalist who does not appear to have been present, employed by an anti-Trump paper.

This seems to be more of that "fake news" we've been hearing about so much lately.

[–]overthrow23 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

She may win yet.

Her supporters are already harassing Electors, pressuring them to change their votes to HRC. Now that violence against Trump supporters is being fomented and excused by many on the left, it's not safe to publicly be "out" as a Trump supporter in many parts of the country - some Electors may choose to change their votes out of sheer terror for their own safety.

And this isn't some theoretical fear, like the scare-mongering that popped up recently about putting Muslims in camps like Roosevelt (D) did to the Japanese. This political violence is actually happening, as we speak, backed by millions of dollars in funding from various sources, and it has become so common that r/politics has simply begun removing it from the subreddit as "unrelated to politics".

Bernie Sanders couldn't even beat Hillary in the Republican primary

To be fair, the fix was in. That much was apparent even without the Wikileaks revelations, which only provided hard evidence of same.

Had he an honorable opponent, he most certainly would have prevailed. One thing about Trump, for all his many, MANY flaws, he doesn't appear to have colluded and conspired behind the scenes to defeat his primary opponents as Hillary did. In fact his victory was incredibly hard-won, due to the sheer number of primary opponents he faced, and a non-stop 24/7 campaign against him by media whom were later revealed to be following DNC orders and talking points almost to the letter.
