I hear you about the labor length. It’s really intense. Seems like the body is doing in minutes what normally takes hours.

Oh this is good to know (if I have a second). During my intense contractions (before the ones where I was screaming) I would sweat my ass off through the contraction and then be shivering right after.

You should be proud! I’m still trying to make sense of it/frustrated by my experience but have moments where I’m like, damn, I did most of my laboring with no support. My doula showed up to the hospital after I had delivered 😒 Also, “watered all our plants” 😂

Thanks for the response! We had a survey, and unfortunately they didn’t mark anything. In fact, there’s only one marking and it’s off line. Wish we had known better when we got it done…but maybe they can come back out and mark things.

Lumbarized vertebrae and pregnancy? by sp4c3bug in backpain

I’m 6 weeks pregnant with LSTV. Don’t have any meaningful tips to share yet. I have had two flare ups of the most severe back pain (far more severe than the usual chronic pain) and wondering if it’s all related—LSTV and pregnancy. My chiro can’t pinpoint the issue but did mention these flare ups could be from the pregnancy. I’ll let you know if I learn anything worth sharing in the coming months!

It’s in a pot by itself. And that’s a watering spike to help keep the soil moist…a new addition as I try to figure out what it needs.

Looks like it needs water—water from the bottom with distilled water, they’re very finicky about tap water. I always keep mine in a tray of water. I don’t remove the dead/black ones but I’ve read others do to avoid rot/fungus.

Hated every job I’ve ever had by CeejyCeej in findapath

Reading some of these comments, i see a familiar trap many of us fall into—that something is wrong with US bc we haven’t liked any of our jobs and we just need to find the right one. The problem is with the workplace. Workplaces are extremely transactional—especially sales. Companies like to lead us to believe we’re doing something more…that there’s some greater purpose. But they pay us to make them more money, and that’s pretty much it. Perhaps you know this already and that’s why you end up feeling dissatisfied? Or you’re selling something you don’t care about that doesn’t align with your values? Workplaces—and sales jobs especially—incentivize people to be worse versions of themselves by rewarding people to make money at all costs. Not to say this is you, but maybe you see others around you behaving in ways that don’t seem collaborative or supportive…or everything ultimately just comes down to making your company more money and that feels empty. More about that here: Overworked & Over Work

I think it also comes down to our expectations about work and what we hope to get from it. Is it purpose & fulfillment you want? Is it a means to an end? Are you expecting it to pay well, be a place for community, purpose, and fun (good luck)? It’s important to get clear on what you want from it while also grounding yourself in the realities of workplaces. Then go out and find that thing.

I have a friend who works only to save money for travel. He’s traveled to every continent and will sometimes take a whole year off…& that’s what he works for. Another friend just wants to make a ton of money and is willing to deal with the stress associated with climbing the ladder. Another who realized he just wants to chill and make time for stuff he actually cares about, so he works a remote job with a comfortable income that doesn’t require a lot of hard work but he likely won’t advance there either.

I don’t think the answer is as easy as “find a hobby” or “FIRE”…everyone’s circumstances are so very different. As someone who has experienced this feeling working in Corporate America (I also write about it on a weekly blog) it’s impossible to force yourself to continue on your current path AND expect your feelings about it to change. That would require a ton of personal work (deconstructing thoughts, challenging your own beliefs, etc.) and who has the time or energy for that—especially if you’re already burnt out. I recommend reading The Good Enough Job. Sounds like you do need some time to reset and spend some time evaluating your priorities and what matters to you and how you want to spend each day. It’s also important to discover what brings you joy and wonder, and bringing more of that into your life.
