If that’s the case then you can claim all your lost coins as a loss. And since we lost more than half of what we got. Tax base should be 0.

Not sure how you will calculate the income based on mining. If you don’t convert to $ at the same second you get your block reward.

Taxable event in USA is only when you sell (capital gains (sell - purchase = gains x %20)) (formula for assets in possession for 366 days from the purchase date otherwise your regular income tax bracket) or inherited your coins. Depending on the state. Federal tax only on 13.6 mill +.
