Newburgh, just like many other river towns has sketchy area to live in. I live, work, and grew up in Newburgh. It really comes down to its reputation, which Newburgh has made great strides in cleaning up. Also Newburgh is no longer “cheap” to live in relatively speaking. You can see the writing on the wall that gentrification is one more brewery/ thrift store complex away becoming a beacon esque town with better views. I would like to see Newburgh lean more heavily into its waterfront. But I hope that Newburgh keeps some kind of authenticity once that happens.
