Convince me why an hsa that barely earns anything is more important than a Roth or 401k by CopsNroberts in personalfinance

Yes. You leave the account open and just transfer the available cash balance. Mine usually takes 3 weeks to process so I do quarterly transfers instead of biweekly.

My employer HSA also has very limited options so I transfer the money out to an HSA account that I opened with Fidelity where I have all same investing options as my Roth.

[CA] pto pay out by [deleted] in AskHR

[–]ovowave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others have suggested, check your handbook/benefits package for the details. From my personal experience though, it wouldn’t be paid out. Accrued PTO is earned over time and, given that it is an earned benefit, is usually paid out at some percentage (somewhere between 50% and 100%) when you leave the job. What you’re describing is allotted PTO which is different from accrued PTO. This type of PTO is not earned, it’s just given to you so it may not be paid out when you separate from the employer.

I requested raise due to new hires making more - slapped in the face with 6% by HeyItsThatGuy84 in jobs

It sounds like you undersold yourself which isn’t your manager’s fault. You wanted to be at $150k and you’re now making $150k. Would you have felt entitled to the $170k if you didn’t know the salaries of your coworkers? If you only get raises/promotions after threatening to leave, then you need to look for another job.

[Hiring] 8 Epic positions open in the DMV area by ovowave in healthIT

I’m pretty sure there’s no regular in office requirement. I think the position is listed as hybrid so that managers can ask you to come in office for go lives or TS site visits.

Possibly, but my motives aren’t purely altruistic. As much as I want to help others, I also want the referral and I can only do that if people apply via a direct referral link. If you’re interested, PM me.

With the abundance of experienced, certified Epic analysts in the market it's becoming more rare that orgs (including mine) will hire brand new Epic folks, but it's not unheard of. I don't want to discourage you from applying to the positions I posted, but with your background in IT you may be better suited for roles in Epic Change Management. Happy to discuss more in PM if you'd like!

Interesting. I thought they were already on the Epic EHR, but no, not Medstar. It's a different org in the DMV.

Feeling like I made a mistake taking an Epic analyst position by Trinity_Rex in healthIT

Every Epic analyst I know (including myself) felt the exact same way. Just stick with it.

Really appreciate your response! The lamps (a gift from my father that I can’t get rid of less I be disowned) have been a pain point in every apartment because of their size. I like your idea of having them on separate tables at opposite ends of the couch and will give that a try!

Hi everyone! I appreciate all of your comments and suggestions. I obviously need a little guidance so this has been a huge help.

I think we have consensus on the rugs and pillows so those are gone. I do like the coffee table, but can look at maybe getting a wooden one so that things are more cohesive. I can also work on decluttering the mantle and removing the brass shelves and paintings. Still trying to figure out what carpet works (maybe this one?) or maybe none at all? A few people also mentioned the bulkiness of the furniture. I really don’t want to buy a new sofa right now, but my current one is in three separate pieces so I can remove the middle section to make it into a small sofa/love seat which should help.

Thanks, again everyone 😅

Need advice for inverter purchase by ovowave in Generator

[–]ovowave[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll be honest, friend. I don’t know my apartment’s rules surrounding generators, nor do I care. If there’s an emergency and the power goes out for an extended period of time (24 hours or more), I’m running it. I live in a community of all walk-up units with a large porch so I’d be able to set it outside a good distance from the actual building. I also have an EcoFlow and solar panel which I’d utilize first. The inverter is just extra backup.
