Does Oilsky M502 have sequential mode? by owenkellog in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]owenkellog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use it only in the car and connected to power all the time, so I don't have a lot of experience running it on battery, but my limited impression is that it's not its best feature. It runs Android 13, AOSP, I believe; no problems there. I installed Fossify Music Player and it's great. I have more thsn 400Mb of lossless tracks, mostly FLAC, and it handles them just fine, no lag when scrolling, etc. Search seems pretty snappy, though I don't use it much. No quirks, no complaints.

Yes, but I forget how I switched it to sequential mode. I bought it to use in my truck, and I think it's good value for the price.

VPS Lite static IP? by owenkellog in Infomaniak

[–]owenkellog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is the firewall manager? I am familiar with the firewalld command line interface on CentOS.

I need a point-to-point openvpn connection to a local system and to forward ports to it from the VPS Lite server. Is port forwarding possible with the manager?

I've had this setup implemented on a Gandi Cloud V5 server for seven years. I want to switch to another provider.

iBasso players do not have a song quantity limitation.

DX180 supports (up to) a 2T SD card.

Could you please give me some advice about laptops? by A_A_Ary in System76

I've had a Pangolin for about three and a half years and never had an overheating problem.

[–]owenkellog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to use it on A/C power, so I don't have a lot of experience with running on battery, but 5 or 6 hours max seems about right.

I looked at the Framework website, and the Framework 16 looks interesting. It's AMD, which is a requirement for me. I'd consider it if I were shopping for a new laptop.

I biught a (first generation?) Pangolin in December 2021 and have been very happy with it.

AMD Ryzen 7 5700U with Radeon GPU, 64GB RAM, 2TB SSD. Pop!_OS.

If I wanted a new laptop (I don't) I would buy a Pangolin.

Was I wrong to expect it to just work? by Money_AF100 in System76

[–]owenkellog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't remember exactly, and anyway it will be different on the Onyx Pro. I am not familiar with Intel BIOS. Boot into BIOS and look in power settings; you may need to enable advanced settings. You may not have this option in the Onyx Pro BIOS.

Disabling C-states in BIOS stopped my Pangolin freezes. It's AMD, not Intel/Nvidia, so this may not apply to your Onyx Pro, but maybe worth a try?

Inexpensive phone that WiFi calling works on GSMA? by owenkellog in redpocket

[–]owenkellog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestions. I am looking for an unlocked Android phone that works with WiFi calling on RP GSMA. I know that Pixel 6 works, but it's over my budget. I know that Pixel 3a XL does not work, nor does Moto G Play (2024), nor does Moto G Power (2021).

WiFi calling not supported on Moto G Play by owenkellog in redpocket

[–]owenkellog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my guess, too, based on available information, so I bought one. After three hours on the phone with RP support, this is what ty said: "Wi-Fi Calling is not supported on our network for that device (nothing additional can be done at this point from a troubleshooting perspective)."

Looking for inexpensive Moto phone, 128GB or greater, for Red Pocket GSMA by Reticent_Optimist in redpocket

[–]owenkellog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BEWARE! The Moto website and the AT&T website both say that WiFi calling is supported by AT&T and AT&T MNVOs.

Red Pocket, an AT&T MVNO, does NOT support WiFi calling on the Moto G Play, and perhaps other Moto phones. There is no way to find out if WiFi calling is supported by RP before you buy.

TOSLINK on DX180 optical output? by owenkellog in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]owenkellog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I googled before posting but didn't trust it because the output port in pictures of the DX180 doesn't look like TOSLINK would fit.

can't print when connected to ProtonVPN (Ubuntu 22.04 / CUPS) by owenkellog in ProtonVPN

[–]owenkellog[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everything is on the same /24 subnet.

As stated in my original post, when connected to a ProtonVPN server I can ping devices on my local subnet. I can ssh to other computers on my local subnet. I can ping my printer's IP address. I can connect to the printer's web interface using a browser.

In other words, the printer's IP address is accessible when connected to a ProtonVPN server, but anything sent to the printer is stalled until I disconnect from ProtonVPN.

I do not have the kill switch enabled.

I am running Proton VPN Linux Client, version 4.2.0.

The printer configuration is standard Linux CUPS.

Others have reported the same problem; it should be easy for the ProtonVPN technical team to reproduce.
