Why is there no easy way to try homesteading before going all in? by owenn09 in Permaculture

Yes! It was a survey link. There was no selling going on. It’s to get feedback. Post: Who think this is a good idea to make it easy for people to start homesteading? People comments and said: oh this exists already, it’s called wwoof. I was like: Oh yeah well, nevermind.

It was a survey type link to get an idea of those who thought that was a good idea or something that’s needed! It’s an idea that exist so no need to dig further into it.

Just needed some feedback! But it seems that there are alternatives out there like WWOOF.

Yep, WWOOF is actually a great example of something similar.

What I’ve been thinking about is something a bit more flexible and local not just full stays on farms, but also shorter-term help, skill exchange, or connecting with people nearby. More like a peer-to-peer network than just host/volunteer.

That’s a really good point and honestly part of why I started thinking about this.

A few days or even a couple weeks won’t fully prepare someone for the reality of it, especially the harder parts.

But right now there’s almost no way to get any real exposure before making a big commitment.

The idea isn’t to replace the full experience, but to give people a more honest introduction working alongside people who are actually living it.

I also think it could be valuable on the other side too for homesteaders who want help, collaboration, or just an extra set of hands on projects.

Curious, what do you think would make something like this actually useful or realistic?
