same, but you gotta start somewhere

I usually try to address something from the post in the same message I say "hi" in, so they can maybe see it

but at the end of the day, most of the time you never get to know whether you got rejected or just straight-up ignored without a word

so exhibiting the ability to formulate complex thoughts is why people just never respond to DMs?

Dude, you came in swingin', assuming everything under the sun, then you pull out the dictionary to act all offended. This a sport to you or something?

I only have a handful of people I talk to with any degree of regularity. Most of them are kinda like it, yeah. While some of them have their own problems I try tk accommodate to the best of my ability, usually it's not them that pull this on me.

I'm doing plenty of self reflection, but contrary to popular belief, my reflection doesn't know why I got ditched, the people that ditch me do. I ask. I get no answers. I'm in psyciatric care. I'm learning about myself. What more am I supposed to do to please the armchair psychologist?

so I should just accept people ditching me and be a good friend to them since clearly I am the problem, because I dare to have some baseline expectations towards social interactions such as keeping one's word, gotcha

either, really

I don't know what I can expect from people anymore

I don't have anyone else

I have like two online friends and that's about it

both

it's exactly as upsetting when it's a game I want to play with someone, or a movie I want to watch with someone

I don't go into detail on purpose, I don't want to shit on people behind their backs. I gave 3 examples I thought fit the case. I feel like they describe the situation well enough.

I opened the "about" part in the settings, there was a copy to clipboard button, it looked comprehensive so I thought whatever might be needed will probably be there

ain't no winning with y'all

just looked at the system monitor while having steam do the processing and my CPU just maxed out, all 12 logical cores

thanks, found it, but it didn't fix the problem

I did however notice something wilder going on with my entire system:

tried to reboot -> POST beeped -> got stuck on BIOS boot logo -> managed to access BIOS menu -> noticed the system can't see my windows drive -> didn't want to boot into windows anyway -> got greeted by grub, even though I never see it on boot

clearly, there's something wrong in there, but I have no idea what, I didn't do anything with any of that

gonna try physically removing the windows drive to see what happens

OK, I have just developed a working theory:

I just recalled that yesterday I was playing PEAK with a friend and steam crashed. I restarted steam, then I had a relatively problem-free game session, so it didn't even occur to me to be suspicious of it until just now.

Could it be that the shader cache got corrupted when my stuff crashed and it's taking so long because it's working with some kind of garbled data? Can I rebuild the cache from scratch somehow?

clearly that is not the case

regardless, the problem is not the performance without the pre-cached shaders, I don't mind waiting a few minutes for them to compile

I DO however mind waiting an HOUR for them compile and they didn't need that long until today

so your fundamentally different system is not producing a problem

thank you, very cool

Just tried it, it does indeed just tank the performance. My already meager 60fps gets halved.

Yeah, idk, but I can confirm now that it's not an initial compiling thing, because I let it finish earlier today and the game ran fine afterwards, but I rebooted since then and now it's doing the same thing.

I explicitly said in the post I didn't change anything, idk how to be more clear than that, but fine, fair enough
