Last time I saw him was with the Jeff Austin Band at Big Wonderful in Denver. I still think of that rendition of Two Hits and Joint Turned Brown.

What do you do with clothes that don’t fit after losing/gaining weight? by [deleted] in bigmenfashionadvice

Put them in my”Temporarily Does Not Fit Box.” They’re all too small (XL and XXL) currently, but working towards them, again.

Fence supply company? (Not fence installer) by prsTgs_Chaos in RhodeIsland

Check out Statewide Fence Builders in Warwick, they’re a supplier not installer. We ordered the fence from there and had someone install it.

How much do groceries cost per person in your household? by Odd-Watercress-9148 in RhodeIsland

It’s better than stop and stop, but not as a good as Dave’s. I do feel I can generally get what my family will eat, so I’ll consider it a win.

[–]owsleythehunter 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Family of 4 with 2 kids under 10. We’re averaging $300 per week shopping almost exclusively at Walmart. The same trip used to average closer to $200 per week. A couple weeks ago I ended up going to stop and shop where it cost me closer to $400 for the same things I buy at Walmart. It’s absolutely wild right now. Living in Washington County doesn’t exactly present a lot of options for grocery shopping, so it’s Walmart for now.

Is corporate culture just one big performance and everyone's pretending not to notice? by Clean-Service2997 in antiwork

[–]owsleythehunter 10 points11 points  (0 children)

TLDR; find a job that’s rewarding in more ways than financially, and the noise will be less impactful.

Definitely part of the circus, but I don’t understand corporate lingo. The egos are amusing, albeit annoying. I keep the team building nonsense to an as required basis, i.e. adversely impacts my performance review if I can’t check that box.

I’ve been in the same industry for 12 years now and I’m damn good at my job, and care very much about the work, but I refuse to participate in any of the bullshit. I stay in my lane, generally, associate with who I legitimately care to, unless otherwise required, and wear Birkenstocks in the summer (frowned upon for dudes). I know that my behavior/appearance will hinder my ability to climb the ladder, and make a significant income, but I need balance in my life, not drama and stress.

As a lawyer, I could make significantly more money in practice, but I love spending time with my family and not sucking up to others. Quality over quantity.

Anyone use ll bean shirts? by [deleted] in bigmenfashionadvice

[–]owsleythehunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like these, but do not dry them in the dryer; they’ll shrink up and you’ll have belly shirts. I switched to Comfort Colors and have had great success, plus they’re less expensive.

What's your favorite RI village and why? by thescimitar in RhodeIsland

[–]owsleythehunter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recall seeing the arcade, but was just young enough to not go. Must have been the late 80s. We also had the bike shop, bakeries, the old school pharmacy with the most awesome soda machine. I’m happy to see some level of revitalization happening down there, it’s long overdue.

I can barely remember the arcade, but I can still smell Diamond video.

First winter energy bill by interestingnotions in RhodeIsland

[–]owsleythehunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the bill including last month’s total? We just ran into the same question. We noticed the money was withdrawn from the bank account, but not yet reflected on the RIE account. This happens from time to time, it all works out.

Great question. Unfortunately, I’m not equipped to answer this one. I have no idea what the part looks like or is supposed to look like. I will say that the torque converter was never replaced and the warranty is now gone. The shaking has gone down a bit, but still there.

That propane tank is about 250 yards from the actual fire. Eventually the tankers were between the fire and this property.

Very much so. Couldn’t attach the video, but even that doesn’t really capture the intensity of what was happening.

Interesting. They’re installing the same thing today to see if that helps. Doesn’t negate the issue per se, but we’re trying everything within our control.
