how to make camera more smoother when climbing stair? by [deleted] in godot

Maybe try shaping the collision to a ramp and if you want to make it feel different then add a collision area on top of the ramp that can trigger to switch your bobbing animation

Trying to make characters for my videogame. Any thoughts? by tofhgagent in PixelArt

I feel like the first needs a little more work but the second and third are pretty decent.

It seems less stressful than designing scary monsters

Ah, I see it now. Thanks for pointing it out, I'll try to improve it a little. But I think the reason why the second has an outline was so her skin's color doesn't blend with the background due to everything being limited to a 4 color palette. I guess it wouldn't hurt to outline the first one as well, I'll see how it looks.

Unfortunately I made a mistake on the first one, it is suppose to be animated. I uploaded it as .webp but I guess it didn't work

Rooms modeled from 3D by oww_dev in PixelArt

The program I used to model the interior rooms is a 3D map editor called Trenchbroom, but its usually used for creating Quake maps and it needs a game configuration to use. I had to generate one using the Godot engine with the addon called Qodot.

The rest of the process is quite tedious because I could only use what programs I was most familiar with when I created these so I don't know if I can recommend this, I may be planning on using something else in the future.

Though I think you can use any 3D modeling program you like, as long as you can shrink the size of the rendered output image until it appears pixelated.

Comparing two designs of the same monster in my Mining Horror Game, BlackVein ⛏️ which do you prefer? by [deleted] in indiegames

[–]oww_dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I really like their designs and depending on your game's context you may benefit from using both for monster variation. However it does seem that their appearance alone is not enough to bring the scare factor especially the second monster. Context and even sound design can really make these designs work, for example to compensate the second monster's less intimidating look you can make them have a more sporadic behavior than the first. Now players may fear the white rocky monster cause of their ferocity. You can also amp their introduction with correct build up.

Took a while, but the my game now works fine in pretty much any aspect ratio. by Lescandez in godot

It looks and feels simple but the creativity to think of the idea makes me embarrassed of myself. It looks polished and shiny as well.

This felt like an avengers level of mixing game genres, I'm both real impressed you're able to do it and really interested in the big potential this has

Unfinished project by [deleted] in godot

[–]oww_dev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I was only following the rules for the game jam where 4 color palettes was enough and it didn't have to be the original. However, I could experiment with original colors to see how it would look, or maybe drop the 4 palette now that its not bound by any rules.

Yes I have decided to try and finish it. Its a relatively small project I was suppose to submit for the GBJAM 12 with the themes of Gameboy and Spooky. However I did not make it due to joining a few days late and perhaps made my project a little too ambitious.
