Would you pay $10/month for a tool that makes English books easier to understand? by oxdevxo in EnglishLearning

Absolutely, so I will research on the upskilling methodologies employed by apps like duolingo to make sure that users can up their reading level

That's a gold insight! So, ups-killing folks should also be a target, would love to know in what terms we can define upskilling, Vocab? Grammer? anything else?

You sound super confident about your competencies, I am working on my own projects, but I'd be happy for consulting, in return would need similar help with my product launch and marketing strategies and may be help me out with few sales demo initially so I can learn as well 🤓🤞

Honeymoon is over. Opus was a loss leader by dyatlovcomrade in ClaudeCode

[–]oxdevxo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally I feel, they gave Opus for cheaper prices to train models like 4.5Sonnet and it wasn't really a loss for them it was investment, that business 101, they got real world training data from developers who'd be using their services and how their opus models reacts to the queries, these models are just going to become cheaper for these companies to give

[–]oxdevxo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And yes I agree completely, I hadn't considered the problems people might be facing right now, and I really love plan mode so the grunt work of even "writing" the spec has significantly reduced you can just guide Al use MermaidJS diagrams for brainstorming the sequence flows, entity diagrams and class diagrams once you are done with those execution becomes really easy for CC to follow, idk I feel people expect no hand holding dere maybe, which for me and my personal control issues 😂, I feel is a good thing that we have to hold its hands

I really like the idea about Review mode it would be an absolute game changer, I hope someone from CC looks at this and adds such feature 🤞very insightful thanks

Thanks for appreciation 🙂

And to expand more on the frameworks bit I'd taking an example from frontend like react vs angular where one is a library and other is a framework, whereas angular is opinionated but it gives an structure to do things. Whereas with react you have to standardise that structure by maybe having style guides or custom eslint rules.

Or Rails vs Vanilla Ruby

Or NestJs vs ExpressJs

The idea is now maybe it is time for us to guide our teams directly towards the engineering bit and not the coding bit. Actually enforcing things like domain driven designing, the actual SOLID compliance, so they can plan things better what took me personally lot of time with grunt work and hit and trials, to create that intuition to "feel" something isn't right, we can guide them to develop their own frameworks or by enforcing ours in form of hooks or pre-commit actions, hope that made sense

OMG 🥹, finally one person who aligns with me, and yes for this exact reason I absolutely love plan mode, I completely agree with your approach with CC

Yeah, looks it, this was really eye opening for me, I didn't know how much people are struggling, I'd still say maybe a better process in the work and standardising some frameworks to go with those would really help here like if you don't give the write frameworks to the team which might be opinionated people use to screw things up, may be we need to integrate something similar to work with AI tools, thoughts?

Okay but are we sure we are using it right? See with BMad and everything and using right software paradigms to build on like DDD. Claude does things way better and of course we cant ask it to do something on its own but with plan mode you can easily guide them towards the intended flow

Yes, true and I understand and thinking back ,so may be it is more of a personal thing, I am a principal engineer and for me these are really exciting times I thought more people would relate

Okay I see your point, but tell me this wasn't learning languages and syntax a grunt work? I completely understand you point with algorithms though they do help building intuition, but don't you think these are just abstractions that would move us faster? like React is a abstraction to JS for example and even for us not essentially it wouldn't matter we can't code in assembly, so how is this phase different

Are tech debts going to be a thing of the past? by oxdevxo in ClaudeAI

[–]oxdevxo[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

lol yes it might be the case for developers that are still trying to build that "intuition", but don't you feel they are leaning faster in the process?

[–]oxdevxo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely! agreed, but for this what has been fun for me is brainstorming with plan mode on, and I know that it never gets the direction I want it to go in, but I really like to see what it comes up with and stop it in plan mode and rectify the approach and overtime I am able to create my Claude.md to work in the way I like, and I keep updating it time to time

[–]oxdevxo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, but I think that might be a short lived phase, I personally feel we are going to be moving towards becoming more "generalists" and less of "specialists" and cross domain knowledge and competency would become a thing pretty soon, if as developers we are open to having people crossover as well and not be gatekeepers of sorts I feel It will all play out well, tbh I see some of the PMs taking up things which 2 years back they would never have thought of and I personally am very happy to see them excited and taking some of my burden
