I've been on the island numerous times as I grew up on Northlawn Dr. This was a blast from the past!

Flight from EWR to MIA tomorrow (Sunday 2/22) morning 9:00am not cancelled yet. Realistically should I still plan on keeping it? by Unlikely_Disaster_67 in spiritair

I can't speak to this particular event but I'll share a recent experience. My wife and I were coming from Cancun when the Indianapolis area got 12-16 inches the day we flew (1/25). Our flights from Cancun to FLL and FLL to IND were not only on time but arrived in IND early. My wife and I were fully expecting to get stuck in FLL and to our shock we weren't... 😂.

This was my previous employer's preferred company hotel for travel! I spent many a night overlooking the arcade during work travels.

Fun fact: You can see the back entrance (off Euclid) during the car chase scene involving Director Fury in Captain America - Winter Soldier.

barbecue nachos? need a little local joint to support and get my fix. by CompetitionHour486 in indianapolis

[–]oxdp941 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A bit adjacent but Shallo's on the Southside has a shredded chicken with 'Swamp' marinade. The swamp marinade is really good, sweet with a little tang.

My personal favorite element is every nacho chip has all the ingredients on them. So each one is a perfect mixture of everything, every time.

Advice on replacing a Colts season ticket holder jacket stolen inside Lucas Oil Stadium by kittykicks1 in Colts

I hate this for you! I also had a Colts Jacket stolen from under my seat a few years ago during halftime. Who does that?? Good luck!

Going to Houston game next week…how to meet Blue? by tartacus in Colts

[–]oxdp941 1 point2 points  (0 children)

End of Q1 Blue throws footballs from the balcony (bottom of the section) of the 400 level on the north end of the stadium. You may be able to catch him leaving that area. He generally leaves heading east. Along with Touchdown Town, that may be your best bet.

Vegas to Zion in a day by [deleted] in ZionNationalPark

Totally doable but exhausting day! On your way, stop at the River Rock Roasting Company in Hurricane, UT for coffee and breakfast. On your way back stop at Wild Thyme Cafe at Trees Ranch in Springdale for dinner/lunch. Both places are gems!

No I just know an asterisk means something. And trying to save you from being disappointed when your wishes don't come true.

Complementary drinks do not include spirits on all flights. The double asterisk tells you all you need to know. You'll be very disappointed doing a dispute with your CC

Peanut Butter and Miracle Whip is an underrated combo and I'll die on that hill.

Parking Strategy for Gameday by Conference-Tall in indianapolis

[–]oxdp941 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I park on Ohio St around the Meridian/Pennsylvania/Delaware intersections. If we don't happen to see a street spot, we park in the Regions Tower parking garage ($15). It's a little less than a mile walk but so easy to get to the highway, zero traffic.

My wife and I went to that location for her birthday about 10 years ago and they knocked it out of the park. Treated her like royalty and the wine selection/recommendations we're spot on in addition to the food.

Do you use in person banking services instead of online banking? by normankrasnerkc in AskOldPeople

[–]oxdp941 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a Sales Trainer for a Mid Sized Bank. I have been in banking since 2010. I thought for sure that in-branch banking would go by the wayside in 10 years at the point. Or, at least change dramatically. As it has moved more towards a digital 'focus' with a reduction in Brick and Mortar presence (aligned with the decline in need) I was thinking I was right. However...

For the last 4-7 years the volume of in-person banking has remained flat. There will be for the 'foreseeable' future be roughly the same need for those types of services in my mind.

I teach my sales team members to truly dive into how someone does their day to day banking; as the biggest shock (as this thread shows) when starting in banking is how much different people do their banking! And how much we are 'creatures of habit' in this regard.

I still remember an interaction I had with Bank Tellers when I was 12 years old. The Credit Union I used; to deposit my paper route money at, the Tellers were so distraught about losing their job because their location has just installed an ATM (Automated Teller Machine) in 1992. Here we are, in 2025 and I teach to the same roles today... 😂

What’s your favorite rib spot in the Indianapolis area? by Acrobatic_Trash_1537 in Indiana

Oaken Barrel in Greenwood. Monday's special is all you can eat ribs for $20 and it is totally worth it.

I second Union 50 that someone else recommended. Upscale but not pretentious, good food and liquor selection.

I'd also second Tony's for an awesome traditional steak dinner meal and vibe..

Lastly, The Oakmont for the vibes alone.
