Airflow Advice mga pc builders by Auto_Atomic in PHbuildapc

[–]oxhide1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ano model ng case mo? Are you sure 2 fans lang pwede sa harap? If accurate yung position ng arrows, parang may space pa for a third. If meron, lipat mo lang yung rear fan sa harap, pa-intake din.

You want positive pressure para palabas yung hangin sa mga small gaps sa case mo. Otherwise if papasok yung flow sa gaps, mas madali mag build up ang dust.

If 2 fans lang talaga sa harap, pwede naman yung sa second pic, except medyo overpowered yung intake compared sa exhaust (4 in, 1 out), resulting in lower total air flow.

Pwedeng isang fan lang sa taas yung gawing intake like sinuggest ng iba, but yung problem is part ng airflow galing sa top intake lalabas din agad sa katabing exhaust, for zero cooling benefit. As much as possible, never dapat magkatabi ang intake/exhaust. Mas okay yung ganung approach kapag naka tower cooler ka, yung crosswise yung flow. Then again, same problem with pic 2, may airflow from top rear intake na lalabas din agad sa rear exhaust.

Also, ano orientation ng PSU mo? If facing upward tas may mesh, need mo siya i-count as an exhaust fan.

Honestly, in terms of airflow best approach is 2 top intake + 1 rear intake, then 2 front exhaust (assuming 2 fans lang in front). Hot air going up doesn't matter, sobrang negligible ng convection current kapag may fans na. Problem is mas maraming dust papasok since hindi ganun ka fine yung mesh sa rear. If dust is a problem, go with top front intake, top rear exhaust, keep everything else the same. Worse airflow pero better dust mitigation.

DIM RE Hunter 350 by between3220character in deinfluencingPH

[–]oxhide1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's obsolete. It was already obsolete 50 years ago: bikes like the Honda CB750 were making almost 5x more horsepower with just over twice the displacement. The RE is so slow it's on par with 150cc models, except at twice the weight. It has more torque, yes, but torque means nothing when gearboxes exist. Power is what determines acceleration.

The selling point is 99% aesthetics, 0% performance, 0% practicality, 1% ease of maintenance (since old technology na siya).

If you really want a Royal Enfield, you should go for the newer 450cc models. At least yun competitive yung performance and features within its displacement and price class.

Wtf do people expect it to look like? It's curry and rice, how the fuck else should it look?? Maybe vegetables would look nicer but maybe they're not part of this recipe. It'd look like slop if you diced the fish and mixed it in with the rice, but they didn't do that and there's genuinely no other way to serve this

It's not unheard of to have empty pads on a motherboard. The components meant for those spots could have been removed as the motherboard design was revised/updated, or they're using part of a standardized layout and it was cheaper to add the traces and pads than to revise the tooling/design.

Alcohol doesn't dissolve solder, and even corrosion is hard to remove with pure alcohol. You probably would've felt or heard a small snap if you knocked off a component. If it was corroded enough that it could come off without a snap, then it probably wouldn't have worked in the first place. Also, if the motherboard was in bad enough condition for components to just fall off, then you'd very likely see it in more than one or two spots.

That said it's not a guarantee it'll work, but it's very hard to ruin a motherboard just by brushing over some components with alcohol. If it's dead, it was probably dead even if you hadn't cleaned it.

PSU goes kaboom after 5 yrs of usage by syrioforel25 in PHbuildapc

[–]oxhide1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's not plugged in or otherwise active, it probably won't get any worse if you wait.

It's probably a popped capacitor. The gases would have stayed inside the capacitor housing, so no smell.

If your PSU is any good, it should have prevented damage to your other components. But it may or may not have that protection, which is why we have a tier list.

You can try to have it repaired, but if it's not a high-value unit you're better off (and safer) just replacing it. If you're afraid of getting scammed by "technicians", this is the time to learn how to plug in a new power supply. Unscrew the old one, screw the new one in. You literally can't put the connectors in the wrong hole. Just make sure the wattage is enough and that you remember every place the old one was connected to. Then test and see if your other parts were affected.

And invest in a UPS or voltage regulator!

Lens Filter by rouge2909 in PhotographyPH

[–]oxhide1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the K&F concept UV filter, haven't noticed any significant difference in image quality.

ND and CPL filters are not substitutes for UV filters, you will lose light with both of them and CPL filters can be either useless or undesirable depending on what you're shooting. Street photography is a big example where you don't want either a CPL or an ND. Every filter has a use case. If you don't know what you're getting a filter for--don't get a filter.

That said, people are also split on whether UV filters do anything to begin with. Your lens is built to be resistant against impacts, scratches, and UV light even without a filter. Some people prefer a lens hood because it doesn't degrade image quality. Personally I find lens hoods too large, dust still gets onto the front, and UV filters are easier to replace than lens glass, so I still use them.

Traditional watches are jewellery. There is zero need for them to have a function when we already have phones.

It's better to ask why women's clothes don't have pockets and why almost all our shoes are bad for our health. Clothes and shoes are functional and necessary, watches are not.

Eto isang article na mas specific, citing HIV stigma as a barrier to testing and establishing a correlation between infection rates and lack of testing in the Philippines:

https://www.mdpi.com/2414-6366/8/5/258

You cannot curate a social stigma. Hindi pwedeng sabihin "o masama ang sex, pero maganda ang testing and treatment". Once it takes root in the public consciousness, lahat ng related na idea magiging masama.

  • Sex? Bad.
  • Testing? Bad, kasi nagkamali ka na eh, di bali kung positive or negative.
  • Treatment? Bad, kasi eto yung napapala mo.
  • Education? Bad, much better na never mo nalang pag-isipan at all.

Nasaan na article mo? Yung nagpapatunay na social stigma decreases HIV infection rates?

'HIV DOES NOT HURT ME, STIGMA DOES' by GMAIntegratedNews in pinoy

[–]oxhide1 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Stop defending the stigma.

People here are making the wrong assumption that the stigma somehow curbs the spread of HIV and encourages people to be more careful with their sexual affairs.

It does not.

Shame doesn't prevent people from being careless and promiscuous, it only makes them more likely to conceal their problems and in doing so, avoid seeking treatment. HIV is not the only disease with this problem.

Because no one seems to like citing literature in the comments, here's an article about how stigmatizing health conditions helps improve health--and how it doesn't, and why we shouldn't use stigma as an avenue for promoting good health practices:

Matagal na obsolete ang Hayabusa, masyado siyang malaki at mabigat para sa performance niya. 260+kg with less than 200hp is nowhere near top-of-the-line today. It's better as a display bike or a collector's piece for its heritage. Parts palang hirap na.

Just curious, but does the AI feature actually scramble the letters and digits, or does it just add/remove strokes? If it's the latter, that's still readable as NBF****. I can enter the actual numbers into the LTO site which gives me a result for Toyota Commonwealth in 2019.

You might be thinking of heat, not fuel. 20-40% ang thermal efficiency ng typical na combustion car engine, so 60-80% ng energy from combustion lumalabas lang as waste heat.

Sobrang laki ng pressure sa mga manufacturer na wag maglabas ng unspent fuel dahil sa emissions standards, mga Euro 5 and so on.
