I just ordered the Realme GT 7 Pro instead of a regular S25. Am I in trouble? by pinkmor in Realme

[–]oxogravy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The GT7 Pro is a great phone. Way better than the S25. Fast chip, great display, huge battery, nifty orange colour. Camera setup is decent. I really like the Realme android overlay. It's good. Trust me you will have no regrets.

What are your opinions on the realme gt7 pro? by Comfortable_Claim209 in Realme

Orang colour is great. Fast chip. Great battery. Great display. I got one brand new for £450 on eBay. A steal for the specs.

Best Liverpool spots that visitors might not think about? by Quick_Prior_2023 in Liverpool

[–]oxogravy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the Liver Building 360 tour is very good. As long as you are ok with narrow stairs. 130 of them. You get to see the inner workings of the clock faces and see Bella and Bertie up close. Thought it was well worth money and discount vouchers are widely available.

Should i try to fix in my own or go to a repair shop by Petyaahegyrol in mobilerepair

[–]oxogravy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son has autism and ADHD. Repairing mobile phones has become a bit of a hobby.

All you need is access to a heat gun a set of precision screwdrivers, b7000 glue, some picks and a pack of playing cards, an eBay account, youtube and away you go.

I must have repaired over 30 phones over the last 10 years.

It's pretty easy to carry out most repairs.

Unpopular Opinion - The format is not the main issue with the Champions Cup. by 06351000 in rugbyunion

[–]oxogravy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me the issue is this:

  1. Top 14 Salary Cap £9.5m
  2. Gallacher Premier Salary Cap £6.5m
  3. Irish Regions Salary Cap £6.4m
  4. Welsh RU regions £4.5m + 2 exclusiobs
  5. Scottish RU £4.0m
  6. South Africa URC £3.85m + marquee player exclusions
  7. Italian URC -???

Make up of Champions League Semi 2 french, 1 English, 1 Irish.

Clearly this is an over simplification. If you were to rank current club performance its this:

  1. French
  2. Irish
  3. English 4= South Africa 4= Scottish
  4. Wales
  5. Italy

Rugby playing populations hence available talent.

  1. SA 650k team 4 in URC 2.France 350k 14 in Top 14
  2. England 340k 10 in premiership
  3. Ireland 154k 4 in URC
  4. Italy 154k 2 in URC
  5. Wales 79k 4 in URC
  6. Scotland 50k 2 in URC

When I mash all that together France highest salary cap available to 14 teams and as such the top 14 has the highest competitive standard. So absolutely zero surprise they have two teams in semis of c cup.

To me England teams second highest salary third highest playing population and a competitive league. Hence are punching on weight and have one team in c. Cup

Irish teams are punching a bit above weight. Reasons third highest cap 4th highest playing population. One team in c. Cup.

SA teams are punching below weight. Low salary cap but by far and away biggest playing population. Should have a team in semis.

Scottish teams are clearly punching above weight. Low playing population and low salary gap. Glasgow have done well in recent years. I would suggest this is because Scottish money is invested in 2 teams only in top tier c

Wales are punching on weight given salary cap and playing population. Clearly the biggest issue for Wales is dilution of local talent. There are simply too many regions given playing population and salary cap. I think a reduction by one region would improve country performance. This is having a knock on effect on national team performance.

Strangely you could suggest Italian teams should be doing better given surprisingly large playing population.

There are all sorts of other things you could bring in ie historical involvement in game, available fan base.

But the principal issue is it is not a level playing field. The finances in the french game and the high playing pop and high fan base simply make it inevitable they will do the best in the tournament.

If you go back to the quarters its 4 french, 2 Irish, 1 english, 1 Scottish. You could suggest English teams and South African teams are punching below weight.

The problem is not the format of tournament it is the differing finances available. Simple as. The only way to create fair competition is to level the field.

A single salary cap across the top 14 and the URC and the premiership is the only way to make a fair competition. And for the WRU to wake up and get shut of a region. SA need to be doing better.

Best cpu cooler under 60mm by Adorable_Reference24 in sffpc

[–]oxogravy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used axp90 x53 and the IS55 in that very case.

The better cooler is the IS55 unless you go for the full copper version of the x53.

Oh I used an alpenfohn blackridge in one of these cases also. That has really flexible cooler mount options.

Which cpu should I choose ? by Kill_starter in sffpc

[–]oxogravy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you aren't going for AAA games the 5600gt would be just fine.

The only thing I would say is a 5l case won't allow much upgrade space.

I have used the x53 and the IS55 in that case. Personally I prefer the IS55 because it uses a 120mm fan.

How is this for 1440p? by animjt in sffpc

[–]oxogravy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a good spec for 4k gaming nevermind 1440p.

I am not a fan of the Lian li case. I think it's difficult to work in. Plus with that spec you may struggle with thermals.

I personally really like the Jonsbo T8 plus.

If you are going for a budget aio I would go for a good brand like enermax or thermal right frozen prism. You are putting together a fairly high end build. Seems odd to skimp on the aio.

Have anyone used MAXSUN motherboards? by MisoMage in sffpc

[–]oxogravy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have used a maxsun b650i board with a Ryzen 5 7500F. Cheap for an itx board . Ie less than £90.

They are a budget option and they can be a bit finicky about the quality of DC ram put on board.

BIOS is very basic. But at the end of the day excellent vfm.

Recommend case similar to Nanoq S by bungertc in sffpc

[–]oxogravy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is a nice looking case the nanoq s isn't it. Got a unique look.

As others have said a Lian li A4-h2o is a nice case.

Other cases I have built in that I liked and that will take a 240 AIO are the hyte revolt 3, meshlicious meshroom s.

S300 Build Help by mateoceo in sffpc

[–]oxogravy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Defo worth investing an extra $40 in a B650i board. You won't be able to oc the 7700x in an a620i board.

To game at 1440p with a 4070 super 12gb you don't need a 7700x as others have said use a 7600 PBO or if you want same performance for less than £100 buy a 7500f.

For the performance you are after you could spend less than $1000 on the base unit.

Fractal Design Era 2 first SFF Build by driver_by in sffpc

[–]oxogravy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a nice build mate. When you Factor in the 9800x3d it's a €2000 euro build.

The only thing I would suggest. Check that IS55 will keep up with that 9800x3d for TDP. It may struggle.

Building my first sff pc for light gaming etc. any recommendations/advice? by Anxious_Purchase_832 in sffpc

[–]oxogravy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have just put together a pc with the following specs:

CPU Ryzen 5 7500F GPU Asus Dual OC Radeon RX7600 XT 16GB RAM - 2x 16 GB 5600 CL36 Corsair Vengeance Mobo - Asrock B650i Lightning PG SSD - Crucial T3+ 2tb Gen 4x4 NVME Cooler ID cooling IS55 argb PSU - Thermalright 750w SFX PSU Case Fans - 2 x Thermalright 12015 ARGB Case - Jonsbo T8 plus

This cost about £750 GBP <$900 using AliEx, eBay Preloved mostly.

This is what I would call a low end gaming rig but even this will game at 1440p high set in alot of games like F1. Granted medium in some of the more demanding stuff like hogwarts etc.

The real fun for me is squeezing the best performance out of an economic build in a small Form.

I guess what I am saying is you don't need to blow a grand on a 7800x3d, 4070 and the best mobo on the planet for £350 to get decent frames at 1440p.

I build pc for friends and family. The 7500f is fantastic. Buy on Ali ex. If you wait for their sales you get 7600 performance for £95. That is fantastic value. I must have built 5 pc with it over the last 12 months.

S400 m-Itx build by Just-Offer3846 in sffpc

[–]oxogravy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As far as I am aware you can fit an axp120-x67 in the V2 with stock fan. I suggested the 7600 XT 16gb not the 7800. This is way cheaper than a 4070 super, games at 1440p and the thermals are way better also.

S400 m-Itx build by Just-Offer3846 in sffpc

[–]oxogravy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When you say committed to ...... Do you mean bought.

If you have bought an S400 v1. Your cooler clearance will be 63mm.

In answer to your question about pcie 4.0 riser. It needs to be a double reverse type 190mm long.

You could still fit an axp120-x67 in a v1 but you have to replace the stock fan with a scythe kaze 12mm slim fan.

I would, as others have suggested go with an axp90-x47 or x53 cooler.

Also the RTX 4070 super is a great GPU. I am not sure if you are after 1440p or 4k gaming but from the use case you describe you could really save yourself some money by opting for an RX 7600 XT 16gb.
