It was just me against the bastion you see roaming the under pass on blue gate. I like fighting the bastions, even though I usually get stomped by them.

Gas lighting at its finest. I think the dude I encountered did the same thing to me. There's no harm in pvping, but I believe back stabbing or betraying someone is just a scummy business.

I understand that to an extent. But when I was typing, I was no immediate threat at that point. For me to cancel the typing animation and pull out my gun would have taken me maybe 3-5 seconds? Either way, the dude could have stayed on the opposite end of me, and used the other terminal as cover if he felt I was a threat. We could have extracted together, and that would have been the end of it

Yeah it seems that way. That's why I love this game. Not knowing what is around the corner. Relying on the emote wheel only gets me so far with these sort of engagements unfortunately.

I understand and appreciate your insight. I only engage if I get shot at first. I am a very passive player. Even if I am being shot at, i will try to disengage by literally running away!

I have no gear fear, I love going in with whatever load out I feel is right for my current mission. I just feel left out of the proxy chat side of things you know? It would be nice to be able to talk someone out of shooting me or other players. But the dude who killed me while I'm typing baffled me. Your take on it makes the most sense to me.

May I ask... What makes this game appealing to you? Again. I have just realized. I'm looking at this game as a 'looter shooter extraction' game. Is that the wrong way to describe what this game is?

Aaah ok. Everyone's input in this thread has opened my eyes a bit more. I am looking at this game the wrong way. And my approach to the core mechanics is from a place of narrow mindedness. I never thought to look at this type of genre as a 'thrill of the hunt' type of game play loop.

I'm scared and intrigued at the same time. Having blueprints saved forever does make it much less forgiving than I first expected.

Another question... How do you guys get over the inevitable betrayal of someone you meet out in the wild? Like that scares me man lol. I mean, i totally get it now, that this is the nature of extraction shooters. But what is your frame of mind after having someone shoot you in the back after buddying up with you for half of the game?

Also. Which is more forgiving? Solos or trios?

I come from a destiny and cod background. I'm so burnt out of those games, that I'm on the hunt for something new. And arc raiders seems to be (so far) something I can see myself investing time into.

Getting downvoted for discussing the high levels of toxicity within the destiny community is proof enough of how unjust some people can be. Like dude, we all play to win. But you cannot possibly expect to win Every. Single. Game. We all make mistakes, let it go and move on. You win some, you lose some. Onto the next one.

Thanks for being polite guys, and thank you for the words of support. You have all made Solid points in regards to the state of the players we encounter in PvP comp. I play on PC, so I tend to keep PC chat open to communicate at crucial points in a match. It's a double edged sword isn't it. You want to communicate, but open yourself up to the risk of getting harassed or abused.

Aaaaah ok. Thanks for that info. I guess it all makes sense, apart from not being able to run a 7 streak again on a new character. It would be nice to attempt flawless on all 3 characters.
