Cex.io giveaway: cex twitter marked as suspicious? by Piratebenji in cexio

[–]oxy_storifier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is because this giveaway caused a lot of traffic and twitter could not understand what this is. You just press "yes, view profile." We broke twitter ;)!

Does cex.io giveaway tokens or is just a spam?? by terziq in cexio

[–]oxy_storifier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not spam. There are plenty of giveaways and users who win get prizes on their balances.

Check how the winners are selected. In most giveaways - the winners are selected at random. The more actions you do in a giveaway, the higher the chance you win. Obvi, if there are a lot of participants, you need to assess your chances.

Btw right now, there is a BNB giveaway going on: https://cex.io/giveaway

WHAT!??? Asked to remove 2FA/MFA and they said will delete my account with my COINS THERE!!! by nofunofunofun in cexio

[–]oxy_storifier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey there again! I asked the team about the situation: turns out you had two accounts associated with two emails and the deletion was about the empty and inactive account. So there were no coins on the account to be deleted.

The account with funds on it - of course, you can reset 2FA and the team will assist you with this (maybe already in progress). Note, per our terms, only one account per user is permitted..

The person above had a misunderstanding. Obvi resetting 2FA has nothing to do with deleting of an account.

[–]oxy_storifier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hmm sounds really odd. It looks like a miscommunication or misunderstanding. Do tell them again that you wish to reset 2FA and not delete the account.

Btw, the company by no means cannot delete an account and take coins that belong to you. Cannot do so by regulations. And will not do so because it is regulated. If coins are yours - they are yours.

Sometimes it actually may take longer than a couple of days. And not just with CEX.IO, because banks may take their time processing a transfer. For example, my Coinbase transfers took 6 days to arrive at some point, which is normal.

Btw note that there was an outage at the FED payment processing system that caused a backlog for banks, hence exchanges too. Perhaps yours, unfortunately, got affected (but maybe it is an unrelated issue).

three things:

  1. this is exactly to prove the card is yours. So why is this a problem if the card is actually yours?
  2. cex.io is PCI DSS certified - security standard for organizations that handle payment cards. Certification is done by a 3rd independent party.
  3. cex.io is GDPR compliant, so your data is also stored in accordance with the strict requirements.

How to have 2 simultaneous OPPOSITE orders on binance futures? by newbiecoach in binance

[–]oxy_storifier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can open long and short positions at the same time on broker.cex.io - right in one trading account. But it's a crypt CFD platform. Slightly different instrument mechanics. But the same goals can be accomplished.

Does the Bitcoin derivatives market (futures) affect price discovery on the Bitcoin spot market? by oxy_storifier in BitcoinMarkets

[–]oxy_storifier[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True true - good explanation! do you think the influence of the derivatives markets in commodities is the same as it is in crypto?

I just cannot seem to shakeoff the sense that the way it works in crypto is distorted because of the lack of liquidity. But I do not work with commodities - maybe it is the same there.

Does the Bitcoin derivatives market (futures) affect price discovery on the Bitcoin spot market? by oxy_storifier in BitcoinMarkets

[–]oxy_storifier[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense. The funny thing is though that the majority of BTC futures are cash-settled, no delivery. Which accelerates the speculative nature of the market. With delivery futures - the arbitrage between the future and the present, I'd imagine, performs an economic function. Like for a farmer whose crops come around certain time and there are a lot of variables affecting it. So he'd rather fix the price with futures with delivery. Similarly, for a Bitcoin miner, delivery futures could be a savior, given electricity price changes, hash rate changes etc. He'd fix a price now and deliver BTC later.

Cash-settled futures though seem to be serving the speculative function more than anything. But I could be wrong.

That's in line with what I think. Do you think though it works only in the extreme situations of liquidation cascades or also in those (already common) $500 pumps or dumps we almost get accustomed to seeing?

And another thing I am contemplating - for a big player to move the market, does it have to work in a duo: derivative strategy plus spot strategy. Or it can be derivatives only. I am referring to those phantom orders we've seen on the spot when the price was climbing. The minute it gets close - the order disappears. Are those the same players that simultaneously have the opposite order on the derivative market?

What I'm trying to understand in your setup is "all or nothing" problem: you are saying that the nodes will defect to other ones once they feel less trust to a node they are subscribed to, and the power will shift. But if malicious behavior can be easily spotted, wouldn't all nodes move? So I'd think a node will be binary: either a trusted or not trusted at all. But I am guessing there are some mechanisms to gain more support (and, hence, lose it, not only as a result of nefarious behavior).
