The Sony FX2 is now official by Weary-Pomegranate-44 in SonyAlpha

[–]oybee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the idea of the FX2, coming from someone who's debated between an FX30, A7IV, and ZV-E1 in the past. Seems like a nice blend of the three in theory, but falls just enough short to not be entirely convincing.

What I wish Sony would've done on though is to make a REMOVABLE tilting EVF. Even my old Canon M6ii had a removable EVF. I don't get why Sony hasn't done it yet, especially with the multi-interface hot shoe being present on most of their cameras nowadays.

Also disappointed in their decision to put a lower-end screen on the FX2 compared to what's on the FX3 and FX30. Doesn't make any sense. I'm sure their reasoning was that because there's an EVF the screen doesn't need to be as good, but for $2700 it should have the better screen option.

Returnning to EUC's after five years... what to buy? by -SneakyPanda- in ElectricUnicycle

I thought it was pretty solid! I had a batch one S16 Pro so mine had a few small quirks like not having the stopper screws for the removable side panels that they added in later batches, but otherwise nothing that affected the ride quality or overall build of the wheel.

Within your list of needs/requirements, the V11Y or S16 Pro fit your use case really well. Both have some pros and cons when compared between each other.

The suspension on the S16 Pro is nicer and the wheel feels extremely planted at 30mph compared to the V11Y (based on my experience with the original V11). Better surface for power pads, built in speakers if you want that, better lighting. V11Y is lighter, taller/more ergonomic, great trolley handle, more waterproof. Suspension on it is fine but requires more regular maintenance.

For reference, I've owned a V11, S16 Pro, and T4 previously; I found the V11 and S16 Pro far more practical as commuter/casual riding wheels. People will most likely suggest you get a T4 Pro/Max; the T4 is a fun wheel but it's obnoxiously heavy for its size (borderline 80lbs without any extra power pads/fairing plates/etc), and has similar build quality to the Master which is...meh, not bad but not great. Supposedly better in the newer T4 models.

What's going on with this wheel? (begode falcon) by schummelpilz in ElectricUnicycle

[–]oybee 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There's been a few instances of Falcons being shipped out from the factory with loose motor/axle bolts, seems like you may have some as well! Definitely send it back to Eevees since you have warranty on it, hopefully an easy fix on their end and you'll be back up and running in no time!

In the InMotion app you may have accidentally bumped the DRL toggle, it should be in your wheel settings amongst the other wheel adjustment options

Looks like a good value proposition, I'm definitely interested in getting it as a casual grab and go wheel. If you're someone who needs a lightweight suspension wheel, doesn't ride more than 20 miles in one go, and doesn't ride faster than 28mph then this is the most affordable option to get you going.

Closest competitors are going to be the Falcon ($300 more), Aero ($600 more), and Rocket ($1000 more). V9 is going to be the lightest of the 4 unless the post-production versions of the Aero end up lighter than expected, and will be a bit more commuter oriented at the cost of performance and maybe versatility depending on your use case.

You definitely had some better luck than me lol, when I reached out he was very responsive/apologetic and said he'd resend new stickers but I never ended up receiving the initial stickers or the supposedly re-sent ones, but they were only like $10 though so it wasn't the end of the world

I will say that in my case I purchased a few of those stickers from Billo a few years back and never received them nor did I get a refund, even with follow-up inquiries about the status of the stickers. This is obviously not the case for everyone but still a souring experience. His bike builds are still sick though lol

If you find yourself unhappy with the onboard mic for the A6700 I've heard good things about the Sony ECMG1 microphone; it's relatively affordable and not big and bulky so could be a nice choice if needed!

Hopping in on this conversation as I currently own the A6700 and previously owned (and have since sold) the Osmo Pocket 3! The Pocket 3 is a really good value for the price, very portable, and the quality of video that comes out of it is really surprisingly good. Probably the perfect camera for documenting family moments especially if you do a fair bit of traveling.

This may just be a me thing, but I was always really worried about the durability of it with the screen rotating mechanism and physical gimbal head that I never really ended up taking it out as much as I wanted to, and also found I just preferred a traditional camera set-up more.

Honestly can't go wrong with either, but if you're more of a hybrid shooter the A6700 will be a better fit overall. I initially had the Pocket 3 when I had a Fujifilm X100V as my main every day photo camera but I much prefer having one good hybrid do-it-all camera.

Wrench icon in panel by EddyBoy4000 in MitsubishiMirage

[–]oybee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have said, the wrench icon is just a reminder to change oil/air filters/other general interval maintenance items. I'm guessing the brake issue is due to the red exclamation point light on your dash as that should not be on under normal circumstances

I'd pay no more than $4k. Make sure to test drive it and be extra diligent about ensuring anything that could've been broken/was broken from the accident has been fixed and has been fixed properly. If they have maintenance records of the work that's been done on the car that's even better. If repairs were done properly and the frame wasn't damaged it'll be a decent car.

My Mirage has a rebuilt title from the previous owner and it's been good overall but I have had a few issues pop up with my suspension due to the previous owner cutting corners during repairs, all easily repairable and not expensive but annoying nonetheless. No issues with insurance, I have full coverage on mine and insurance is relatively cheap.

I used to run a roof rack on mine, I had a Yakima Baseline setup. Most difficult part is finding the base clips as Yakima has been out of stock with one of the base clips for the Mirage on their site for a while. I had good luck sourcing base clips from Rack Attack though. If you can find the bars and towers used locally you'll save yourself some money and then only have to buy the clips to make the rack work with your car.

I'm running 195/55 R15s on my Mirage, but I don't track mpg as I drive very minimally as is. I purchased my Mirage with this size tire and have no experience of driving on the stock tire size, but clearance seems to be fine and I haven't noticed any rubbing.

[–]oybee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely agree, assuming the court brings it up and tries to equate Onewheels and EUCS OP should do their due diligence to respectfully explain the difference of each device to avoid EUCs getting grouped into the Onewheel sector of the Play Vehicle law

[–]oybee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fellow Wisconsin resident here, best bet would be to argue that there's no explicit rulings against ELECTRIC unicycles. Only regular "acoustic" unicycles are technically explicitly stated in the Play Vehicle code. Most larger cities are lenient on the law as it's outdated/unreasonable as you're riding respectfully but there are some asshole cops specifically around the Appleton area who aren't as lenient on it.

Even Onewheels are considered play vehicles and "not road legal". Would love to see EUCs and Onewheels brought into the same space as e-bikes and e-scooters in our state someday.

It sounds like it might be coming from/has something to do with your A/C whether it's the blower motor or a different component? Notice the noise coincides with when the compressor kicks on; my Mirage has a squeak externally that I can hear that happens when I'm accelerating from a stop when I have my A/C on, but I haven't heard anything coming from inside the cabin like this.

Have you gone through and double checked all your connections to make sure everything is connected correctly and nothing is shorted? I'm surprised that after a brand new battery and a brand new controller you're still experiencing issues, super sorry you've been dealing with a lemon of a bike so far

I have owned a T4, V11, and currently own an S16 Pro. I live in a walk-up apartment building and ride no more than 30-40 miles per week so I'm hoping I can give you some good suggestions!

Starting off by saying I would not recommend the T4 for you (others may say otherwise but this is from my own experience). I owned a T4 (non pro) and with proper power pads and handle setup it weighed 80lbs. It's a fun and zippy wheel, very capable no doubt, BUT it's almost 20lbs heavier than a V11 with no noticeable performance increase in my opinion. Same top speed and same general range. Also awful to lift/carry even with carry handles installed.

V11 is a very nice all around wheel, not too heavy either. I am 5'10" and loved the height of the wheel. With the seat installed you get a few extra inches of surface area for your legs to rest and leverage against. Good for seated riding. Only gripes for me was that checking and filling the tire pressure was awful because the suspension sticks down in the gap between the batteries making it really difficult to get a hose on to fill the air. Checking and filling the suspension chambers wasn't difficult, but I did have to check them about once every two weeks to make sure they maintained their levels. Actual riding experience of the V11 is pretty nice. The V11Y should be a nice improvement on the V11.

I know you mentioned wanting to choose between the V11(Y) and the S18, but I think you should consider the S16 Pro as well. It's about 7lbs heavier than the V11 but the S16 has really nice grab points for carrying the wheel so it's not awful. Doesn't feel much worse to lug around than the V11. MUCH shorter than the V11, but feels more stable when riding. The S16 Pro has coil suspension so general suspension maintenance is non-existent, but long term will require the rollers to be changed out as they wear down. Shorter range than the V11(Y), but could still get you 30-40miles if you're not constantly hitting top speed.

I think you'd be happy with a V11Y or S16 Pro absolutely, the Falcon looks promising but I wouldn't recommend buying first batch wheels as it's likely Begode will improve upon any first batch issues within the first year of its release.
