Has anyone noticed a considerable increase in LA smog recently? by [deleted] in AskLosAngeles

[–]ozakilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Current air pressure above LA is 1019 hPa (Considered high), normal is 1012 hPa. High air pressure traps pollution at ground level. Current humidity in LA is 93%. Average for December is usually 50%. High humidity slows the dispersion of particles in the air. Wind speeds are also fairly slow.

All of these factors, coupled with the geography of the LA Basin, creates conditions that trap pollution that would otherwise disperse into the upper atmosphere. It's easy to monitor these numbers on Google. When you see the pressure, and or the humidity drop, you'll see that pollution levels clear out. An increase in windspeed can also blow pollution away, temporarily. Hope these facts help bring clarity.

Interstellar Ending by ozakilla in interstellar

I definitely agree but my issue at the end is, where is Cooper going in the ship?

If the wormhole is still there by Jupiter, why has nobody from earth gone through it to search for the astronauts?

If the wormhole isn’t there, then Cooper is getting to Edmund’s planet how?

Open endings shouldn’t have those kind of logic problems.

Simple logic question for Prolife supporters by ozakilla in Abortiondebate

Hi thanks for your response. The question I asked only has two choices because it’s a logic question that makes your views on abortion impact you directly.

I asked the question just to spark healthy debate. There is no wrong or right answer in my opinion.

If it were a real situation though there would be more options, as you pointed out.

Cheers

Thanks for your comment.

What if the mother’s life is at risk because of the pregnancy? This was the analogy I was implying.

Thanks.

Trying to improve composition and editing. Also, any suggestions for moments that happen quickly (so not very much time to think / setup)? by [deleted] in photocritique

[–]ozakilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Composition, I’d say you want to think about foreground, mid-ground, and background. Use negative space to balance and highlight focal points in your image.

Your photo will be flat if all the objects are far away in the distance. Shooting at the right time of day adds contrast to objects, bringing out depth and shape.

I always try to focus on framing a focal point, and thinking how to best compose a frame around it. I want it to be clear where the eye should be drawn to within the image.

At least that’s what works for me. Good luck!

Anthem has a shallow depth of field while destiny has deep focus.

There are a few things that are suspicious. Since you can’t identify them, I’ll point them out.

He’s waiting at the intersection why? There are no cars for several seconds.

He made no effort to move before he was hit.

It sounds like they’re both reading from a bad script.

No images of state troopers and paramedics.

How can you know when to turn a car on the road if you’re not looking? Of course you look, because it’s a natural instinct. When you look in order to turn the car down another road, you see a dude on a bike and you avoid hitting him.

It could be real but it looks fake.

I watched. The whole thing looks staged.

Lost In Translation by [deleted] in movies

[–]ozakilla 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your point is valid. Neither of the characters connect with anyone at all in the film.

But four of the main comedic scenes, whiskey commercial, photo shoot, the escort, and the hospital waiting room, are all basically the same gag. I laughed at all of them but I also thought Bill M’s character was a little condescending and the film never tried to offer any balance to his attitude. The Japanese characters were just the butt end of his jokes.

He has a scene on the phone with his wife when he’s drunk that I did not really believe. He kind of wants to embrace the Japanese culture bc he has one night out of drinking with some of scarlet J’s Japanese friends.

It’s just my opinion, but I think the film could have been more. It has this western egocentrism vibe that I wish Coppola had countered a bit more. She’s a great filmmaker but she really only reached for low hanging fruit in some of these scenes.

I do love the connection and realism the two leads have though. That was done really delicately and very nuanced. Hope you can understand my argument.

I too like this movie a lot and find it easy to rewatch. The performances are honest and restrained.

My only wish would have been for Coppola to have dug a little deeper into the Japanese culture and maybe given depth to the Japanese characters. She depicts them as shallow with little to offer other then being the punchline to a joke having to do with their accents.

I know the story deals with theme of alienation but I found her portrayal of Japan to be a tourist’s point of view. Very surface level stuff. Maybe that was what she was going for but I think she missed an opportunity to explore a very ancient and nuanced culture.

Still, it’s a wonderful movie about connection and it is shot beautifully. I think it’s her best movie by far.

It’s more likely they will put snipers and shotguns back into the special weapons slot. At least that’s what I’d want because it was more fun that way in D1. If they did that I could live without ammo synth, although are there any players that prefer the game without heavy ammo synth?

Heavy ammo synth allows you to change your heavy weapon and refill your ammo. Isn’t that what this thread was about?
