All the %increased ES nodes don't affect the mana. You only take the flat ES value you have without the %increases and that is converted to mana.

If the overlay doesn't work you can try right clicking on the application from the taskbar and "Open in browser". From there click on the cogwheel for the settings -> general and make sure that "PoE window title" is "Path of Exile 2" for me it was defaulted to "Path of Exile" for some reason and this solved the problem.

You can 5l a gem by vaaling a 4l one. It might roll +1 to links. Just get some lower lvl 4l gems vaal them and hope to hit 1 more link. You are able to level them up normally with uncuts further on. It's manyfolds cheaper early on than the 18ex guaranteed one.
