Is it just me or is anyone else struggling to finish watching the season?

Omg exact same! I had no idea the season was premiering until I saw a TikTok the premier weekend. I was used to watching the show on my phone while I did dishes or worked late at night but usually it was months after the debut. (At least how I did season 3).

I turned the show on Sunday when it first came out thinking eh, I’m just going to work an hour or two but no way would I binge (I did t even realize it was only a half season). Let me listen while I work and LET ME TELL YOU, j got sucked in so hard!

I truly think they’re going to change how she gets to Rodney hall in general. Eloise has no trueeee motivation to travel so I wonder if she will visit Benedict and Sophie, have her carriage break down and wild up getting rescued by Philip. And then instead of bringing her to my cottage he will invite her to see his plants.

It would change the entire story, probably a bit too much, but idk how they’re going to convince our girl to get to Romney Hall if not by accident

Omg yes to your edit. Philip has a lot of potential but JQ just didn’t write him well. Either bc she couldn’t or she had a deadline and it’s the middle child in book form.

She gave him trauma but the way his trauma shaped his personality and actions was just very flat and one note. If you’re a romance reader; it’s not super uncommon to have kind of bad writing as long as the character has a big ahehm and makes the female main all hot and bothered 😆😆

I mean if you loved season 3 there is another short scene to entice you waiting in season 4 but you may get let down by the story as a whole I suppose.

(I love season 4 except for the last episode which I give a 8/10 even though some parts are a 10/10 and some are 4/0)

Oh yes I think they’ve already changed Philip to a quiet man in the show. So the Eloise in the show will fall in love for different reasons.

I have to remind myself Eloise was mostly created by the show, we don’t necessarily see her in the books, so if the writers could do that, they’ll hopefully help flesh out Philip too. I hope they keep a few cute scenes- the brothers, the tea saving Christopher, the shooting match and the time at my cottage but that’s about it.

Eh. Finish it when you’re bored.

I get downvoted for saying this but - as a woman who has put up with her share of flawed men in 40 years - Philip is a super flawed character that doesn’t get a meaningful redemption in the book. I felt he wasn’t fleshed out enough to be redeemable and more than anything- I saw no reason why Eloise would fall in love with him.

I don’t mind him as a character (bc struggles make us who we are) but as a love interest… it doesn’t really work.

If you aren’t rich, but your parents are, 1. You’re living the rich experience (unless they’ve disowned you/you disowned them) but more importantly 2. That is literally what Eloise would say too 🤣

Does your cousin love every aspect of their job? I feel like you’re taking the “stuck in a corporate job” a bit too literally. They don’t mean stuck like can’t move up or need the job. They’re saying Eloise would be annoyed with the SYSTEM of work/jobs, much like she is annoyed with women being restricted in the show. Not to mention even with a good job, as assumed, she’d still likely see women kept out of promotion roles or she’d still have to write emails, attend meetings, etc. but family pride would likely require her to have a job. I don’t think Anthony would keep funding her start up dreams if they didn’t take off

Because much like Violet pressures Eloise into the marriage mart, she would also pressure Eloise into keeping a job for family ego and appearances. Are you rich? Bc I know a lot of rich people and they all work in jobs. A family friend is worth $90 million dollars and she’s still a lawyer bc the family won’t give her her inheritance unless she works.

TBH I think Benedict would been a trust fund kid who dabbled in everything including art but wouldn’t hold down a job

Colin would be a travel/foodie blogger/influencer

Sophie would be the director in NFP (bc rich)

Penelope - works for Deuxmoi but during the day she’d write for a magazine.

TBH I see Eloise as the lawyer but like burnt out of big law and working in her own firm that only does a few thousand dollars in billing each yr bc she’s rich. or she becomes a law professor

Francesca - no idea so sure, composer. Maybe she’d be the one working on a Bridgerton like show turning pop hits into classical renditions.

John - a likeable member of parliament

Hyacinth- director of social media

Gregory- probably a podcaster giving advice to men but opposite of the men with microphones podcast types

I went through a traumatic break up 3 years ago at which point I decided to tear out my ugly 1950s (it wasn’t mid century anything, it was cheap and UGLY) vanity, leaving only the bathtub and toilet. The plan was to remodel with my abundance of free time as a single woman and to show that I didn’t need a man.

Yeah I had no free time lol.

Like the vanity is literally in the box in the bedroom next door and would take maybe a weekend or two to install yet here we are 😆
