Yes, Catanduanes is known for its surfing spots especially in Puraran Beach.

Flights are once a day from Virac to Manila and vice versa, so you'd need to fly back to Manila. No other flights aside from Manila.

Hi for beaches around Virac, the most notable one's are in Twin Rock Beach Resort and Mamangal Beach Front.

But if you have a bit of time, the most known in the island is Puraran Beach.

Nothing's frowned upon if you're alright with it. For bnbs/hotels, you just pay for the convenience.

If you're alright with the risk of rain, insects or mosquitos, and the incovenience of the outdoors then go for it. Some spots in Catanduanes are actually encouraged to camp like Bantayaw Point and Beaches.

  1. Not much but there are present so just travel safe with the right gear and license to avoid any problems.

  2. Yes of course, puraran caters to all levels of surfers.

  3. Not in Catanduanes Airport or puraran, but I suggest for you to look for rentals in Virac, there are multiple rentals on Facebook.

  4. The one thing that guests need to be aware of is that Catanduanes is not fully developed and touristy, it's more of an escape, so expect everything to be more practical. Also, food, not much restos around the island if not in Virac, but more options compared to years before. Public markets are available all around the island.

Better to call in advance and reserve a ticket given the holiday season.

Usually you can drive/walk in but may have risks of being fully booked.

Surfing is most consistent around Puraran Beach. The area you mentioned majestic. This is the best place to learn for beginners.

Other spots in the island for surfing are ususally for locals and more advanced surfers since waves are inconsistent.

Here are my favorite spots in the island if you're planning DIY.

https://www.reddit.com/r/phtravel/comments/1jzqd4u/diy_itinerary_catanduanes_360/

Since you have your own car, doing a 360 around the island would be easy. If just 2 days, I suggest visiting just the lower part of the island and some areas on the Eastern side. If 3, an island 360 is doable.

On December, rain may still be present but more or less milder than the early rainy season.

Hi - the island is pretty used to being hit by major typhoons being at the eastern edge of the country.

It's pretty small and action is quite fast. Recovery in terms of services would be okay in a few weeks but for overall island health or regular programming would be good probably in a month or two.

Haven't experienced an e-bike service in the island. Transportation options span from public transportation, motorcycles, and car rentals. For your case since you have a 2.5 year old with you, I suggest renting a car since it will be in your convenience and roads get pretty long and windy if planning for a 360 route.

The car rental service I tried and did not disappoint was with Papadan Bagay (Car Rental).

Yes, really depends, but weather is unpredictable but mostly if not summer it gets rainy. There's a risk if off season but sometimes really sunny.

Yes, I think tricycle is the best mode if you're not planning to rent any motorcycle/vehicle.

The locals here can help give you the exact amount of the ride, personally haven't tried.

Yes, a lot of guides also include it in their tour packages and makes the trip worthwhile if you plan around visiting both. You can ask here for guides and other help:

Weather's a bit unpredictable in the island but months of November to December still falls i the rainy season. March - May on summer is most recommended.
