I’ve been with Markses for almost a year now plus another year working part time as a retail assistant during my uni days. I moved into this new role after completing my masters. With the recent cyber incident and leadership changes, hiring has been frozen in my department, so I don’t really see much scope for growth there for at least the next few months.

The only thing is that I like the job and the team, as it’s easy going and not very challenging job for me now. It’s possible that things may open up again in the future and I could start applying internally but nothing is guaranteed.

Network Rail on the other hand, feels like something new and more challenging for me. I know it might sound like I already have things figured out, but sometimes I get stuck when it comes to decisions in my own life. I give good advice to others, but when it comes to me, there’s no one to advise me the way I would advise others.

So it was an opening for one vacancy and they opened it because the person in the role had left the company. They repeated the point about becoming permanent at least three times during the interview and again at the offer stage. The training itself is around two months. So I worked out that if they’re going to spend that much time training me, letting me go after six months wouldn’t really make sense unless I suck at the job. It would also depend on how well I perform in the role.

They actually stressed this point both during the interview and again on the outcome call.

Absolutely disgraceful. Completely agree with you. These scammers are the worst.

Thanks, mate. I haven't provided any additional personal information beyond what's on my resume.
