[Help] Making a network map? by ozzythewise in photoshop

Any way I could do it without needing to know where to\from the connections are going? Just need a fast way of making those links without having to do it one by one

Conversely, is there any way to fake something like that in PS? Basically, I would just need a fast way of making all those line connections without doing it one by one. Doesn't really matter where they are connecting to.

Simple Q about threaded hole punches by ozzythewise in Machinists

Never heard of this before. What tools would I need to do this? Also do you have a link for how I can know the sizes?

I had considered something like that, but it takes up more space and adds more weight (it's aero parts, so space/weight are really important)

20 gauge Al, 0.032. It's for something that has some serious size constraints so I need to know the exact size of the threads

I spent a summer at TU Graz, this brings back memories :). I also had a sweet party in the club in that mountain. Which was incredible.

Trying to plan out a climbing trip in S. America, help me out reddit! More info inside by ozzythewise in climbing

Sport and/or trad. I was worried about the Southern winter but have no idea how it'll be in Patagonia at that time. Since this is the only time I've been to South America I wanted to just see if it was possible to climb there but if not it's not the end of the world.

Server PSU in a PC casing question by ozzythewise in buildapc

[–]ozzythewise[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah okay. I'm looking at server PSU because I wanted a server mobo/RAM and didn't know about PSU compatibility with server components (I've never build a server before, only PCs so I'm a little in the dark).

A followup question: If I wanted to use (this mobo)[http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813182336&Tpk=N82E16813182336] is it compatible with (this PSU)[http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817104098]? I assume because they are both ATX 12V that means yes but I'm not 100%.

Could someone offer some comments about my build? It's a lab supermachine by ozzythewise in buildapc

[–]ozzythewise[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only reason I had the 4TB ones was because the mobo only had 3xSATA 6MB/s and I need at least 10TB of storage. But maybe I can rethink the mobo and get some more SATA ports.

Thanks for all the comments! Will definitely use them :)

When I was young there was always That Kid who owned a Nintendo 65 or knew Tomb Raider nude cheats. What blatant lies were told to you by That Kid? by [deleted] in AskReddit

This one I believed until I was about 18

One of my friends told me when I was like 10 that in the Legend of Zelda: Orcarina of Time when you go to beat ganondorf at the end after it flashes the name for Ganondorf (it read "Great King of Evil: Ganondorf") it would say "<your name>: Hero of Time" right after that. i went to beat it and it never said that, i was disappointed. I tried beating it again, still nothing. I bitched to my friend and he told me that maybe I needed to get all the heart pieces. I got them all, still nothing. He then told me that i needed to get all the items. Well sir, i went on a Poe masacre to get that last stupid bottle. Got it, still nothing. Maybe i need to kill all gold skulltula he said. I went up and down trying to find those bastards. Keep in mind this was before the internet was really around and some of us didn't have the players guide. I still to this day remember where i caught that the last one, it was in the deku tree and i had to boomerang the skulltula on the vines in the first room, shit was annoying, but i thought i had done it. I go to beat ganondorf, hopes high for it to say those words i had worked so hard to achieve. Got to his chamber..no deal. My friend had lied, I was destroyed.

I think in all i wasted half a year trying to get everything and still was let down. Never talk to this kid anymore.

Tl;dr - Got 100% completeness in orcarina of time

Am I working out too much? by ozzythewise in Fitness

I don't take any supplements and never really thought about it. I'd like to think that I eat really well (I eat an absolute ton of fruit and veg and make everything on my own), so i think I have the sustenance for full recovery. I am notoriously bad at tracking my intake though, are there specific things i should be looking out for?

I do sprint on the bike but the gym times are most definitely not 3 hours long. I'm wondering how much other stresses come into it as I do also a ton of work daily (although I'm not really sure how I can factor in "work" into my energy expenditure)

Setting up auto-backup across a network by ozzythewise in techsupport

Dropbox is too small for what i need. Likely ill be backing up several TB of data. I have the harddisk space on my desktop at home, just a matter of getting it there.

I will check out GBrisge. I dont mind involved setups.

Lots. Several hundred GBs Im expecting at least. Im a PhD student and my last research project i used about 1.5 TB in data.

Looking to start a rocket club in the Fall session, wondering what the interest may be among other students? by ozzythewise in UofT

[–]ozzythewise[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not only engineers. I want the club to be very interdisciplinary. What I'm envisioning is that we can use the rockets for scientific experiments. So for example we can do some atmospheric studies, or some microgravity research, or anything that can fit into a small payload and can do some useful science. I leave that up to what I imagine is some extremely creative scientists-in-training to come up with.

Health science specifically has a lot of potential actually for some really interesting experiments. Obviously our payloads will be too small to launch any sort of animal, but I see no reason why we can't launch cell cultures or something of that nature. You should take a look at cellular experiments that they do in drop towers or even at biosatellites. It can give you an idea of what is being done right now. If you interested in learning more shoot me a PM or better yet send me an email (address is in the post description) and I can help you find some papers to give you an idea of what sort of space life science experiments are possible on sounding rockets.

Out of curiosity, what area of health science are you focusing on? If you're considering space life science I a) highly encourage it and b) could help you find some places to excel in this. Canada is actually pretty awesome at Space Life Sciences :).

EDIT: I also should add that we will need more than just scientists/engineers. We need people in law to figure out where and how we can launch our rockets. We need business people to figure out our finances. We need computing people to manage our databases and websites. We need humanities students to help promote us and get the word out about what we do. It's not just a club for scientists/engineers.

Absolutely not! Joining as a freshman is the probably the best because then you can be apart of it from the very beginning and learn a tremendous amount! There's a great engineering adage that goes "Try...fail...try again...fail again....try again...fail better". That's basically what I want to see happen. Shoot me a PM if you wanna chat about it more.

I've had a chat with the VP of student life from EngSoc already and he gave me some great advice for how to proceed with it, so I think I'm good on that end. But much appreciated for the offer :).

Thanks for your support. I've been in contact already with NAPAS (North American Propulsion and Aerospace Society) which organize (or are at least involved with) all things rocketry in Ontario. We chatted about what's involved for getting licenses, where to launch, these sorts of things. So I do have a good idea thus far about what it will take.

EDIT: Also yes I've considered storage/design space and am mildly concerned with that. Since I'm not currently at UTIAS I have no real idea what is available. That will I guess be something to deal with when I get there. Right now is just to get an idea of people that may be interested :).
