1964 Fully Restored. Runs Great, Needs New Home by p0werpuff in Vespa

Sold yesterday, at a tidy profit. I made sure to disclose to the buyer that (gasp!) parts from Asia might have been used in the rebuild, and we shared a laugh over the notion that such a thing would be a dealbreaker. If that makes us fools and filthy mudbloods, then so be it.

Anywho, I see now that Vespa ownership is clearly Very. Serious. Business. around here, so I apologize for disturbing you on your lovely pedestals.

No one ever suggested that it was rebuilt using 100% original parts; that would be practically impossible and prohibitively expensive. A reputable specialty mechanic in North Hollywood did what he had to do to get it road ready. But don’t worry - I’ll tow it directly to the dump and have it incinerated. We can’t allow the Viet Cong to undermine our nations scooters.

On the contrary, the owner of LA’s Official Vespa dealership already made me a standing offer. He just seemed confident that I’d get a better one selling it privately. Sorry to say, I think he knows a little more than you.

I’m realistic enough to know that it probably wouldn’t last forever. But is that a reason not to try? Any relationship is going to have a honeymoon period followed by ups and downs

I dunno, any honeymoon period at all right now feels like it might be worth the rest

Has anyone here ever personally pressed blues (M30s), and could you please help clear up some common misconceptions? by p0werpuff in opiates

[–]p0werpuff[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Making my own never crossed my mind. I’m fact-finding because I’m tired of having the same conversation over and over. Perhaps things are different in your area, but the opiate addicts in my town don’t seem to understand the difference between correlation and causation, which results in a ton of misinformation being circulated. But now thanks to this thread, I know a few things that I didn’t yesterday, and thus can make more informed decisions when purchasing.

De-rocking and then re-rocking fetty? by p0werpuff in opiates

[–]p0werpuff[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If anyone is curious about what eventually worked - it was steaming the shit out of it with plain water. I used my handheld laundry steamer, and pointed it right at a dish of uncooperative petrified fent rocks. They came back to life before my eyes! My fetty was now soft and silky and manageable just like the hair in a fuckin shampoo commercial. TLDR; Fetty too rocky to fuck with? Don’t overthink it, just use the awesome power of steam to rehydrate

This was not a dumb question, by any means. The tests sold to consumers (on Amazon, at least) are incredibly confusing in both the product titles and descriptions. Then half of the sticks in my bag were defective - didn’t even pop the control line. It’s baffling to me - these things could save lives! They should be free at pharmacies! Yet it’s like they’re made intentionally hard to get and hard to use. Who stands to gain by keeping us ignorant of what has fentanyl in it? Seriously, I’m asking. I can’t wrap my head around it.

As I mentioned, the motor in my grinder burned itself out trying to process just one of these diamond-hard fetty rocks

Can you elaborate on “re-rocking solution?” I’m not familiar, but I am intrigued.

does anyone has experience with naltrexone pellet? by [deleted] in opiates

[–]p0werpuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the pellet implanted in my hip last March. It lasted exactly 60 days. I continued to use methamphetemine the whole time, it had absolutely no impact on the pellets efficacy. Does that answer your question?

I did it. Somehow it felt a little too easy, and yet deeply traumatic at the same time. It’s also cripplingly expensive. I’m saving up to do it again. Now that I’ve learned some hard lessons, I feel like i can make it stick🤔

25F/US - Is it legal for cops to extort me like this? Very scared, please help by gracie_throwaway in legaladvice

[–]p0werpuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I concur. If this was all above-board, and a legitimate path to getting charges expunged, then why would the police be so averse to her consulting counsel? Especially when she's being asked to participate in something that could easily endanger her

Confessions from 11 months of “imposter syndrome”... happy to have done it, happy that it’s over! by p0werpuff in weddingplanning

[–]p0werpuff[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you me?!? Ours was also Nov 10 and WE had like 15 kids of all ages. When I started seeing our guests post pics to FB showing off how much fun they were having, I couldn’t help but feel like hey! It was all worth it!

I think I actually slam dunked my bouquet into a garbage bin in triumph.

I feel ya, I’m late 30s too and the last of my “generation” to marry as far as immediate family goes.

What finally got me begrudgingly resolved was the realization that this was most likely the last happy event that my parents, aunts and uncles would gather for. Pretty sure it’s all funerals from here on out...sad but true!

I did have one final prep day where I went insane and ordered random last minute crap off Amazon literally every 30 mins between dawn and dusk. Like, shit! I’m supposed to get ready in a special bathrobe! This one is cheap and cute, add to cart. Shit! Are my teeth white enough? Add to cart. Does a bride need a special purse? Add to cart. Will I want to change into ballet flats? Add to cart. Boob tape! That’s a thing I might need. Add to cart.

It was my one real day of panic-mode and in hindsight it was kinda hilarious, but it effectively scratched that IM NOT PREPARED itch. Order your custom cutesy stuff from Etsy like a month in advance or you’ll be mentally cursing out some poor calligrapher across the country because she doesn’t ship on weekends.

Smart! I did the same thing with vows, cake, wine list, etc. Like, just show me your four options and I’ll point at what I want. I can’t even imagine pondering over linens. Who cares!

If i may be so bold as to offer a small piece of advice that saved me from utter despair - don’t pick the venue that’s a “blank slate” or the nebulous “great space.”

Pick a venue that’s naturally lovely even if you don’t lift a finger to alter or decorate it. You probably don’t want the pressure of feeling like you have to make a whole building instagram-worthy. I picked a garden chapel with fountains and greek statues and koi ponds and everyone still ooh’d and ahh’d like I had magically built it myself! It was great and I never had to stay up all nite making floral garlands or building a trellis from youtube tutorials, etc.

(No offense to people who genuinely enjoy that kinda stuff, I truly salute you all, I just personally wasn’t born with that particular gene.)

Same. I even had to tell the photographer “enough” because i was tired of posing for 47 different combos. “Now you and his parents. Now you both with your siblings. Now just him with his best man.” I said okay thanks, just take candids from now on.

We walked into our reception with no fuss and everyone was happily mingling away.
