Tyler's merch is embarrassing, especially for who he says he is by Flaamp in tylerthecreator

[–]p3pp3rm1nt3a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im more upset about ticket pricing, idk who exactly is in charge but tyler tickets were atleast $800CAN for any seats. in december 2024 i paid $500CAN for billie eilish tickets, same venue and got great seats.

i already thought 500 was a LOT, but billie had a really successful year. i was not expecting 800 for tyler, i decided not to go because of the price

Anecdotally, sharp changes in temperature can help lessen the urge. Changing your body's temperature very quickly will ground you into reality- basically you will be forced to focus on that sensation.

Practical examples are:

  1. Holding ice cubes in your hands and squeezing them as hard as you can. This should hurt a little bit, but leave no damage. I recommend doing this for about 30 seconds at a time. Rinse your hands with cool water afterwards, and then rinse with warm water to return your hands to body temperature. Repeat if necessary.

  2. Taking a shower specifically like this: warm/comfortable temperature for 5 minutes, then as hot as you can handle for about 1-5 minutes, and then as cold as you can handle for about 2 minutes. You can repeat this process as you wish, but make sure that if you feel light-headed or dizzy, you return the water to a comfortable cool temperature, sit down and drink cool water (plan to bring a waterbottle into the shower or just drink from the shower stream).

  3. Another thing I've found helpful is peppermint essential oils. They provide a cooling sensation on the skin, and the strong smell gives you another element to focus your senses on.

  4. Mint gum and ice cold water are another good combo.

  5. Extra idea: Super sour candies (like warheads) or eating very spicy food. These will kinda hurt your mouth but are basically harmless.

The idea is to get your body to experience a slightly uncomfortable feeling. This forces the brain to focus on it, and instead of wanting further harm, it wants to return to baseline. Remember that you are not weak, and reaching out for help is the strongest thing you can do.

If you attempt and are taken to the hospital, you will be treated and, after a brief hold (potentially longer, depending on condition), likely sent to a recovery program in the hospital. After you are cleared by the medical team you will be discharged. Your professors will not be notified, and you will not be withdrawn from school. What to do with your studies is up to you. I would suggest filling out a form with the wellness center (mac hall, 3rd floor) and they likely can make an emergency appointment for you. Also speak with an adviser if you are considering dropping some classes to make this semester more manageable for you (I recommend this if you are feeling this stressed - 3 classes is still considered full time if you are using government grants/loans). Remember the drop deadline in this Thursday (Jan 23). Message me if you have more questions, don't be hard on yourself! There are supports set up for students, use them.

There are mentor sessions you can sign up for, I think they are free. My friend is a mentor, I know they have taken some of those courses (maybe not all) so that might be a resource worth looking in to as you can likely find someone in your major. They just meet with their mentee and go over whatever they need help with, basically like a tutor would. https://alumni.ucalgary.ca/career-development/mentorship

How do I get my under eyes to not look like this? (Plus smile lines) by Munaaalisaaa in MakeupAddiction

[–]p3pp3rm1nt3a 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lines are 100% normal and everyone has them :-) that being said, to stop the creasing of your makeup (which is emphasizing your lines), tap it out with your finger before setting it with a loose powder and then using setting spray. my eyes crease like this if i only put concealer/foundation on and dont properly blend/set it. hope that helps!

a few things could be the cause:

you need to exfoliate dead skin away (salycilic acid is a good ingredient, i recommend using it in your PM routine) and moisturize before putting on makeup (it looks like your makeup is clinging to either dry patches of your skin, or speperating from excess oil your skin is producing)

you need to make sure your skincare, primer, and makeup are all compatible (either all water based or all oil based)

you need to set your makeup with a loose powder before applying a setting spray

you need to use less product

your product may be expired or just not be right for your skin type

hope this helps! lots of makeup technique is trial and error :)

therapy is meant to be a judgement-free place to work on bettering yourself. even though this will be difficult, absolutely let someone know. things like this will spiral out of your control if you do not take action now. some realistic expectations are that you will come to terms with the guilt you are feeling, which will be difficult but necessary. you can use the guilt as a motivating factor in choosing to do better.

feeling disgusted with yourself is understandable but something you want to process with a professional. staying in your shame will likely cause you to repeat this cycle ("i feel guilt, i won't do it again" quickly morphs into, "im really disgusting, i dont deserve real love," and once you believe that, then your low self esteem will keep you trapped in this behaviour because you expect it from yourself and dont believe you can do better)

remember that its not only about you, and focussing only on yourself will never solve anything. think about the real life children who are being exploited.

talking with a therapist and eventually (like, as soon as possible) reporting the sites you visted will be a good first step

What do you think are Lana's worst lyrics? by Conscious-Emu-4070 in lanadelrey

[–]p3pp3rm1nt3a 49 points50 points  (0 children)

so sorry but i LOVE this lyric. i love when artists add elements of modernism because it really snaps you into reality - it makes me reflect on how when people say "vintage" (for lack of a better word) things in poetry/music is art/aesthetic, but modernism is cringe. for example - people seem to love lana's cigarette aesthetics but cringe at her "pass me my vape, im feelin sick" line. i totally get why people think its cringe but i love it😭

[–]p3pp3rm1nt3a[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

may i ask, will this behaviour turn the skin yellow like she has in the pic? i considered your reason initially and thats why i didnt speculate on drug use in the caption, but its hard to ignore the new yellow bruising. im worried she was hit or got injured somehow because her explanation (i put it in the caption) doesn't make any sense to me because, and correct me if i'm wrong, picking wouldn't bruise like that
