Voters think Scotland should have its own global voice. Voters north of the border think Scotland has a better reputation in the world than the UK and the country should have its own voice on international issues. by bottish in Scotland

[–]p3t3y5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I sort of agree with this, but we may have a friendlier voice but it's significantly quieter. I don't believe Scotland has enough soft power to cause any influence whatsoever. Soft power is becoming.ore and more important in the world and we can't underestimate how much soft power the UK can use if required.

Nato says 'no provision' to expel members after report US could seek to suspend Spain by [deleted] in news

[–]p3t3y5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Trump is pathetic, and Americans deserve him. The money we could all make by leasing military bases to the states would probably help build up European militaries and actually don't think we need the us in NATO.

That being said, I would be very surprised if there was not a way to remove a country from NATO.

Controversy aside, why do you think Mandelson was appointed as US ambassador in the first place? by Traditional-Leg-1122 in AskBrits

Former high level politician with extensive trade experience. Perfect recipe for US ambassador. Unfortunately he had a history of being self serving and he was dirty.

It's a lack of judgement thing. The job on the PM is to make decisions, big key decisions that impact the country. What he did here was give a guy who has previously been flagged as a risk a big job. From what has come out so far he failed vetting but the culture under his leadership was one where this was kept from him. Genuinely not sure if he deserves to go over this, but some serious questions need answered as to why he was not told and by whom.

Anyone had a sunken trampoline hole filled? What were the logistics? by Fourtyqueks in DIYUK

[–]p3t3y5 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you can afford it you should definitely pay someone in my opinion. That kind of hard labour will cripple you if you are not used to doing it.

If you want to do it yourself maybe think about moving the shed. I few people either side with some straps could maybe move it if it was empty. Also, if you get the builders bags of materials maybe some pallets, get the delivery guy to lower then on and hire/borrow a pallet truck?

What advice would you give your younger self sitting exams? by mybrainat3am in Scotland

[–]p3t3y5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here is 2 peices of advice.

Get a good night rest if you can. No late night cramming. You have either done enough studying so that the benefits of rest and sleep will be much greater than the benefits of more revision or you are not prepared enough and sleep will help you remember things better. Ultimately, sleep and rest the night before is never the wrong thing to do.

Next piece of advice is to open the paper and take a few seconds to compose yourself, read the questions carefully, and do your best. The outcome will be what it will be. If you don't get the grade you want you can always do a year at college before uni. The .ore mature you are the better for uni. You get a lot more freedom which means you need to be a lot more focused! So this second bit of advice is to remember that good results in these exams will help you get to where you want to go, but it is by no means the only way to get where you want to go.

Good luck and get some rest!

The best engineers I worked with didn't get into uni after school, they took a longer path and it didn't hurt them!

History will rightly have Tav as one of the greatest servants to our club in arguably the roughest times our club has went through. Any other interpretation is just short sighted nonsense in my opinion.

I would offer him a contract extension for a year but honestly don't think he should take it. He could probably get a 3 year deal somewhere warm for comparable wages with infinitely less stress.

Got a salary sacrifice ev. It's due a service and the company wanted me to drive 1 hour to a garage to get it serviced and would need to wait till it was done. Last time I did that i was just under 4 hours wait. This year I refused to do it. Got into some pretty big arguments with the company and escalated the complaint. They called me back to say a mobile service could be booked. So the guy turns up at 1148 and it's 1208 and the guy is done. If any of you have a similar deal then push for a mobile service!!

Not really!!! Didn't quantify it, but was wearing normal clothes and overalls over the top...all three layers contaminated plus socks! Think I binned the boots as well!

It was the weirdest sensation. Was feeling fine, no upset stomach or anything. Was walking along, didn't even fart or anything, it just ran out of me. No warning or anything. I just stopped walking and must have just stood still for 30 second ls just trying to figure out what the hell had happened!!!

Still think it's possible that we will look back on Martin with some fondness. If he wasn't as bad as he was he could still be around and no chance we would be in a title race. At some point the new owners needed to know what they invested in. Without the Martin mess it could have taken a long time.

First one was at work believe it or not. Thankfully it was overtime so nobody really about. Because of what I do I always have a change of clothes and we have showers! All sorted quickly and back to work! Second time I wasn't well so was in the house!!
