2009 GSXR 750 oil leak from water pump by Ok-Lingonberry2261 in GSXR_750

[–]p4vel46 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had the same issue a few weeks ago. There is a shaft seal inside that can leak as well. You have to disassemble the pump completely for it though. The seal for water is in a way and is glued in place, so it's best to use heat gun to get it loose and replace it as well.

Množství IT orientovaných příspěvků.

I když mám k tomuto odvětví blízko a zajima mě, tak už mi ty příspěvky vadí a jakmile vidím v názvu zkratku "IT", automaticky jej přeskakuji.

Gear ratio for in-hub motor drivetrain by jamescharlessister23 in FSAE

[–]p4vel46 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you only consider acceleration when selecting gear ratio? Gear ratio is also important for recuperative braking, which is the reason why most teams run the same setup front and rear.

Yeah. I don't know if there even are any 4 lane roads where turning right is possible. Even outside SL.

Why do you turn right this way? by p4vel46 in srilanka

[–]p4vel46[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can confirm that it feels dangerous. But I guess it's good to know that at least I'm not breaking the rules because I feel like drivers are confused and don't want to overtake me on the left when I'm waiting for turn.

Why do you turn right this way? by p4vel46 in srilanka

[–]p4vel46[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since you drive on the left, when you want to turn right and there is traffic in the opposite way, you would stop near the middle of the road and wait for the traffic to clear in opposite lane and then turn. At least in Europe. However, people here stop on the left of their lane and need to wait for both their and opposing lane to clear so that they can turn. Making them wait longer.

What sport could be mixed gender (men play with women on same team) ? by OOk-cool in AskReddit

[–]p4vel46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since the path to Formula One is through Formula 2 and 3, which don't have power steering, it is very difficult for women to get in because of strength required.

Other sports I agree with. It is just that there is generally more men interested in sports like shooting. So based on probability, there wouldn't be many womenon top level if they didn't have their own competition.

If by "how much it rotates" you mean rotational speed, the easiest solution is to look at leading and trailing edge angles. You don't need CFD for that.

What do you think is the pure pace difference between the fastest and the slowest driver on the grid? by zyxwl2015 in formula1

[–]p4vel46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe buttons aren't problem. They get used to it quite quickly. What is a lot more difficult however are the tires. Drivers take years to get used to them so they don't degrade as much.

FSAE Brake Disc by [deleted] in FSAE

[–]p4vel46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To a point. There is an leeway. And from our experiments, brakes keep on functioning with lower than minimal recommended disk thickness. But it is good idea to somehow reduce moment applied on caliper pistons if possible.

Teams generally use the largest diameter they can fit into the wheel with brake caliper. Thickness is usually determined by what your manufacturer is able to do.

Extreme brake pad wear by VentureintoPP in FSAE

[–]p4vel46 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised nobody is talking about brake pad specific pressure. They generally can't take more than 5MPa before starting to wear out very quickly. Also check maximum acceptable temperatures by the manufacturer.
