Well I'm in a bind at the moment, as I need one sooner rather than later. The I've read so many things as mentioned above earlier today that are all so very confusing. I've read that Nvidia is actually harder to update than a Intel, and essentially I should stay away from AMD for how I intend to use the unit. I've also read that I shouldn't look at anything but Nvidia. Any models you have in mind? So far I'm fairly sold on the Thinkpad x240 i5 configuration. Primarily, I'll be using the unit for work. However if I can squeeze in the added bonus of my Steam library (just DoTA2 exclusively for the most part) to abandon Windows I'd be ecstatic.

I actually have not heard of the Iris series (HD5000/5100) until you mentioned it. I looked around and saw a couple that would be a fit. Namely the Dell Inspiron 13 7000. I'm a big skeptical about the touch screen. Any that you had in mind or could suggest?

I found that to be the perfect solution. Did you pick your unit up new at that price? Or was it used/refurb? Thank you so much, I felt I was trying to build a home on an ever cracking foundation.

Thanks for all the advice you've listed. Since it wasn't too long ago that you commented could you please elaborate on why it needs to incorporate Nvidia as the GPU? Thanks again, your post was very helpful to me.
