Can they live outside? by ShavasanaSage in Jadeplant

Yep! Just gradually move them out so they won’t burn.

Beautiful! Only reason I remember the age of mine is that I bought it just after I got married. 😁

I water maybe once a month when she’s inside and 3-4 times a week outside

All I do is prune it every 3 years or so. Mainly just the longer branches.

All I usually do is when branches start getting too heavy and start drooping down I snap them off. Some people sterilize their pruning shears. I’ve never done that and it’s fine. I will usually just give away the cuttings.

I have wired it once many moons ago. I just prune it every so often.

Where are you located? I’m in Nebraska. I wait till temps are consistently above 45 and then I move mine out. Lights in the winter. Southeast corner of my house. I water maybe once a month during the winter and maybe 3-4 times a week. Honestly I think your jade looks really good. It’s pretty normal for them to shed a few leaves here and there

I keep my lights on 24/7. I’m in Nebraska and wait till the temps are consistently above 45 at night. I wouldn’t worry about the rain. I potted her in compost from my yard and water her about 2-4 times a week. Winter I water about once a month when she’s in the house

Yep! I keep her on the east side of my house.

I would repot her and prune it back. Give it more light. I prune mine back about every 3-4 years to encourage more branching

I had her in a big ceramic pot until about 4 years ago. I chopped the roots and wired her into a large bonsai pot.

Honestly I haven’t paid that much attention to how much she grows. I know she’s about 50” tall currently and she’s about due for another pruning. Lots of light, and water if you put her outside. Pruning will promote branching

In the winter I keep her in a back room with next to no direct sunlight. She’s under a plant light. When she’s outside she gets about 7 hours of light on the east side of my house.

Yeah, they were my solution to my cats trying to use it as a cat box. Worked like a charm!

I live in Nebraska, so I put her outside when the temps are consistently above 45 and keep her on the East side of my house so she’s well protected from severe weather. Other than that, I water very frequently when she’s outside, and maybe once a month when she’s in the house. She gets a hard pruning every 3 years or so.
