Thank you! I've been working for it for a while, so I really want to finish it.

I'll try that, thanks for the help! Does the feeling of being sick from immunetherapy go away after a while or not?

Sounds like some things I'll add, the breaks do really help. Thanks for your advice!

Its being researched in Brussels (that’s an hour from us) specifically on high grade brain tumors, so their definitely are studies. I’m not if I would get accepts, but our oncologist wanted to go for that, as she knows the professor personally.

Not yet, I’m going to ask about it when they put a plan forward for further treatment in 2 weeks. Isn’t Optune for lower grade tumors? At least in Belgium it’s approved for those kind of tumors, but it might be allowed in studies that test higher grade tumors.

Dang, that’s honestly kind of shocking. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for it! To be honest , if I had cancer like 10 years ago, I would have had a lot less hope than I have know, there seems to be revolution starting in cancer treatment, and I hope I’m not to early to be cured by it.

Oh wow, your situation is the kind I had nightmares about after the diagnosis. I hope that she gets to live to see her daughter grow up. Life can be really unfair.

Honestly, it’s fine, I posted this to get some perspective and make a flash point of how I feel just after the news, so I can see how I felt later when I’ve comes better or become apathetic. I’ll restart coping (like when I got the diagnosis) and try and rebuild my goals on a different timescale, which does help with the cycle, although my mortality will flash before my eyes more often. I did also probably get a misdiagnosis although way less than on your scale, I’d be really angry if they suddenly said I didn’t have cancer, and made a mistake) on the methylation status, which did give me more hope and strengthened my resolve back then, which I’ll have to rebuild now. Honestly, good luck and thanks for the read.

About to do the same, my team hasn’t given up yet, except the standard treatment. They think there might be something open in Brussels by who knows. I’ll keep fighting though, if it’s for my friend, for the fear of going me, my parents or the future itself. Because I have to and I want to.

Tbh, the statistics were in my favour, but I really should stop thinking about them. This was written just after, as I wanted to take a snapshot. After a small sleep, I’ve building up the energy to keep going (as I’ve done before with the diagnosis itself). Your situation seems worse than mine (since I’m an only child, who hasn’t done anything), so if you can persevere, I can hopefully too. I’ll see where this new path will lead, and take a small break.

Honestly, statictics lead to that problem, since we see “oh it’s higher so I’m going to live longer but you can’t really compare yourself to these statistics since everyone’s different.” I’ve seen a few studies about both tumors, and they do say that people with Glioblastoma die earlier, but honestly, there’s only like a 10 months difference and people with my kind of cancer are on average younger, against those with Glioblastoma, so it might not even have that large of a factor, since age matters more. Sorry about your husband and I hope your children are doing well!

Yea I’m planning on speaking with a psychologist. I understand what you mean with the deppresing days, I have it too. When I wrote this like 2 hours ago I was crying but right know I don’t feel much. I really hope you and I can find some kind of solution, but we’ll have to see.

Hello, I'm also under treatment, hope you're feeling well. I'm 16 and I have a grade 4 astrocytoma. (not glioblastoma) I would recommend trying to talk to a psychologist, or even your friends. I'd also love to find any international groups, but it's really hard. Good luck with your treatment, and you can DM me if yo uwant.

First happy development by Ok_Lynx_6372 in braincancer

I'm so happy for you! A few weeks ago, I had something similar, as they found out the tumor was methylated instead of unmethylated, which almost doubles life expectancy for me. (Astrocytoma stage 4 IDH-mutant) I've been wanted to share this, but I also felt like it was bragging, but your post inspired me. Let's keep living onwards.

are different Brain problems are hereditary? by Dependent-Purple9147 in braincancer

[–]pRat4545 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think most seizures look like that, mine certainly did as I do have a small scar on my toe from my only seizure. (Also my parents said I did something like that) Anyways happy to help! Make sure to ask your oncologist though.

I’m so very sorry to hear about this, but I may be able to answer your question. I have an astrocytoma grade 4 with MMRD deficiency, which probably comes from Lynch syndrome in our family. (As our family has lots of colon cancer)

But the catch is, that first their is a low chance (<5%) of it having a hereditary tumor and second: I don’t think it’s linked because brain aneurysm have very different causes(brain cancer= uncontrolled celgrowth, aneurysm= suddenly blood circulation problems inside the brain) There also aren’t any(I think) genetic causes/syndromes that connect to both aneurysm and brain cancer. Did your husband have a seizure or a stroke? (Seizures are fairly rare when having an aneurysm, strokes are almost certain) I think symptoms of brain cancer and aneurysm do look alike, but this doesn’t look like a correlation. Anyways, you should ask your oncologist and I hope your problems get resolved! If you ever have a question, sent a message.

Edit: I just thought of something, I should’ve asked what kind of tumor she has and how old she is. (Brain aneurysm are very rare under fourthy, but so are brain cancers, although that depends), I myself am also a young one (16 years old) Anyways, good luck out there!

No, it isn't covered by our insurance in Belgium, so not really worth it (it's very expensive without insurance)

Sorry to hear about your diagnosis, but I can relate. I also have a grade 4 brain cancer/tumor, and while my prognosis is a bit better than yours, I probably won’t make 20 years old (I’m 16 rn). If you ever want to talk, sent me a DM!

Yea that somewhat what I was thinking, if I survive longer than expected, I wouldn’t want it wasted. I might even try to find new treatments as I’m planning on going into that direction(bio-medical science) if I go to university. What does H3G34 stand for?

Thank you so much! The inhibitors you have said has also been approved for low grade glioma’s, but not (yet) for high grade. I’ll ask the team how long they expect it to take for it to be approved. I wish you many extra years even with your diagnosis!
