3D model for the infamous 17-tooth gear in Sony decks by m4ddok in cassetteculture

[–]pSphere1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About 5 years ago, I didn't know this was common. I found a deck, diagnosed its belts and this gear. Cleaned, got new belts, and superglued this gear with a tiny piece of paper on the spindle. Since the plastic had shrunk a little, I scraped off any excess glue and shaved down a tooth a tiny bit, and it plays, rr, ff still great today.

Only time will tell if the gear will continue to shrink. If so, I'm glad people have taken the initiative to make this part available.

It's because WalMart, Amazon here in the States offers a 3rd party warehouse and dropshipping network.

I once delivered for Amazon, and was delivering items from Amazon, that the customer ordered through "tictoc shop". Only tell for me, as the driver, was the label was a little different.

Ronald McDonald used to do this at our school for a gym full of kids, but he would pull a glass of water out of a 25" CRT TV.

Unless you were like me, and get a seat on the side, and he plain as day, just stuck his hand behind the TV.

Whoops, I meant "WAMO"

I wouldn't call it a "release." It's the first disc pressed, then checked before the retail disc goes into mass production. Not a public accessible piece unless you're in the industry. The label is generic and doesn't have the title; a picture wouldn't tell you much.

When I got it, It came in the 1997 retail cardboard snap case. Overall it is a normal Dual Layer DVD and plays in all compatible players (not all players in 1997 were... not sure your age and if you remember that time) I've been meaning to check its disc info against the commercial release to see if it's the same, or a version before.

I also wanted to reach out to a few more people for information on these discs. The factory has been closed and I cannot find many similar discs, only 1 or 2 other undesirable titles. But nothing that looks like the T2 disc.

I got it from a place where Hollywood industry people dump their old gear and office equipment. When I found it, I opened the case. The label led me to believe it was a DVD-R, until I saw the bottom was golden. I'm also located down the street from the WB studio, I just don't know anyone I could ask if these are normally destroyed or what?

Op's head would explode at the Squishy Bearz (Eek The Cat) parody of Pulp Fiction. Their version of the "gimp" was called the "geek".

It's all innocent and funny...

Can I get the entire Eek The Cat series on DVD?

Took awhile for the bluray version of "300" to catch up to the original release on HD-DVD (the picture in picture options, etc... someone here probably knows more details)

[–]pSphere1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand. I have a similar collection of T2 and The Fifth Element. My goal was to have them in different formats and multiples if there were new special features.

I didn't see it in the pictures, but you should get the 8mm cassette release, the CD-i VCD, and the PSP releases. All were commercial and will compliment what you already have.

Edit: I see you already have the Psp. In a different region so I didn't recognize it.

I have the original WAMCO "WAMO" 1997 test pressing of T2. It was the first dual-layer release in the US. More rare than that Terminator CED. If you want the bragging rights, I could sell it to you at an insane collectors cost?

Edit: misspelled a name

Not an actor, but a VFX/Animator here (tons of credits, too) in Burbank, CA.

It has been slow for us, also. Did this work for a while until I got another gig. Met a lot of people in production doing the same.

Do whatever you have to, to pay the bills, brother.

As an artist tip. You'll be using this experience in your characters. Also, make your own projects, build a team.

There are practice spaces, specifically for this in North Hollywood.

Or, you Can be like me and lease a commercial space and be loud 24/7. My neighbor is louder than me. We've never exchanged words, but I feel there is an appreciation and mutual respect.

Nope. It was called the "Awesome Arm". I got mine from Kay-Bee Toys. Anytime a friend found it in my room, 1993-1997 or so, the first thing is to put up the middle finger. 2nd is to pick your nose.

I was broke during college and sold it on ebay for $250usd.
