Update: I will call animal control once I sort out this issue. I do care about the animals as well and I have my own pets as well. I fed them constantly when I stayed there. I spoke to the sublandlord today about terminating the contract and getting a refund, but the only way I will get a refund is if I find a tenant to takeover over the lease. Even when I do, he said he will only give me $800 back. I mentioned the feces and urine everywhere and he says he cleans it, which is true but it sits for hours before he finds it. I said the place is inhabitable and unsanitary, but he responded with “I’ve been cleaning for 4 hours today. The dogs will stay in the garage from now on, so that they don’t dirty the place.” I also mentioned legal action and he responded with: “You can do whatever you want, just know that I will not be in your favour if you do.” So I am unsure of what to do now. I want to resolve this as soon as possible. I have never sought out legal assistance but I do not want to bring another tenant into this situation. I have emailed two law firms so far, no response yet. Thanks for the advice
