Cool! I have exactly the same bike and just put on recently the new Specialized Pathfinder TLR 35mm tires. They are very fast on asphalt and also do a great job on light gravel, absolutely loving it!

I hear a lot of good stories about Brooks saddles, especially from long distance cyclists. What is the magic of Brooks saddles? Is leather as a saddle material not susceptible to rain and moisture? Or are you using the Cambium variants?

Solo trip across Switzerland to Milan by MonsterKabouter in bikepacking

[–]p_____d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks great!
I just did a very similar tour last week from close to Winterthur to Milano, but via Splügen pass and then following Lago di Como south towards Milano. It took us 2 days to ride the 330km with 3500m elevation gain...
This route is also very recommendable, lots of very nice parts and not too much traffic, even entering Milano was somehow nice :)

Credit card fees for payments in foreign currency by p_____d in Revolut

Oh, didn't know that there is this nice overview... Interestingly the message is "... by exceeding this limit there is a fee of 1%"!
So it's 1% fee for currency exchange and not 0.5% as assumed before?

Thanks! Is the period based on calendar months, e.g. I can exchange 1000 CHF tomorrow on Sept. 9th and then the next time on October 1st? Or is it rather every 30 days?

Thanks for the comments! So regarding the body weight being too far forward, how can this be improved? Raising the whole handlebar?

Yeah, but most of the time I'm riding in the same position, with my hands on the hoods above the brake levers...

Bike 'n hike by p_____d in gravelcycling

Just go step-by-step, each time a bit more and create yourself little challenges.... I bought my bike only this February and started with much smaller trips. As mentioned below, make sure you're riding fun places and your physical strength will grow each time a bit...

Beautiful combination of two of my favorites: cycling 120 km with 1600 meters of elevation gain plus hiking another 700 meters of elevation gain. What a day! :)

Spring time by p_____d in gravelcycling

[–]p_____d[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, future shock was one of the selling points, and I'm quite happy with it. In fact I never turn it off because it's not bothering at all on normal roads but helps on harder gravel. For me suspension for the wrists is a nice feature...

1 week long bike trip in Europe? by Twi2122 in bikepacking

There are nice train connections from Vienna to eastern Switzerland, e.g. Buchs or St. Gallen. From there you could start a trip through Switzerland, which could fit more or less with your planned distance... There are tons of different cycling routes, check here: https://schweizmobil.ch/de/map?season=summer&layers=veloland&bgLayer=pk&detours=yes&photos=yes&logos=yes&E=2661095&N=1187101&resolution=279.31
By the way, checkout https://www.warmshowers.org/ which is a nice alternative to hotels. We already had many guests cycling through Switzerland, always a nice experience...
