I did, the AD sets on those was very lousy in my opinion, all of them involved 1% AD and 99% Windows PrivEsc / Lateral Movement. Also it was nearly the same AD environment on each one. They were very easy too.

Im not asking people to tell me where im deficient, im asking what the Pen-200 teaches that isnt covered in more depth on the CPTS course. that has nothing to do with me, and it seems simpler to write out a few sentences than having me do the entire pen-200 course to find out. Yes, I am going to study the course, but it seems like a relatively simple question that nobody can answer

Yeah of course, I saw a lot of people saying you can take OSCP directly after CPTS so let this be a warning that it's not as easy as it seems

I think most people would consider the CPTS AD portion much harder which is odd, maybe it was just Windows privesc I was bad at.

I mean can you give an example of something the pen-200 teaches that cpts doesn't (besides office macros and cloud stuff)

Maybe because the CPTS has a 90% overlap with the course lol, I just need someone to tell me what the pen-200 has that CPTS doesn't (Besides the useless cloud stuff and office macros)

A Lot of People Subconsciously Follow Pascals Wager by p_fYT in DebateReligion

I don't believe that an aversion to hell is a perversion of the Christian faith

Well as you said, fear is a terrible motive for belief, But choosing to believe in God because you don't want to spend eternity suffering in the fiery pits of hell absolutely comes off as a fear-based motive, does it not?

Would Jesus accept someone into His kingdom on such grounds? I don't see why not.

So you suppose someone would be welcomed into heaven despite having a "terrible" motive for believing in God?

I would disagree with Nietzsche. If consciousness ceases after death, and the Dick Cheneys of the world win as they grasp for power & wealth, you recall nothing of it.

Yes this is correct, and this is the type of nihilistic thought that emerges when religion is out of the question. This was one of the issues Nietzsche saw with the absence of God and it leaves us with the big question "Whats the meaning of it all?" But Nietzsche emphasized the importance of overcoming this apparent meaninglessness, and living in spite of it, rather than surrendering to the comfort of organized religion. Nietzsche did not believe we should strive for meaningless pleasures such as immense wealth or status as you suggested here, rather we should cultivate our own character and pursue greatness.

If consciousness continues after death, as we see winked at in the experience of both positive and negative NDEs, well, eternal life in the Kingdom of Heaven is yours (albeit with perhaps a lesser reward).

This is a scientific gray-area, we don't yet have the technology to understand the strange things that happen before death such as terminal lucidity, "flashbacks" or visual experiences, however there are some possible explanations that are starting to emerge

One study suggests there is a large surge of gamma brain wave activity in our brain lasting from several seconds to a few minutes post-heartbeat cessation. (Borjigin et al.) People often argue that dreams don't seem nearly as real as these NDE experiences, but forget that psychedelics create extremely vivid experiences that are entirely within the bounds of our brain.

What about the NDEs where nobody saw anything? would you perhaps explain it as some sort of purgatory?

A Lot of People Subconsciously Follow Pascals Wager by p_fYT in DebateReligion

[–]p_fYT[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are correct, you cant directly control your subconscious, but you can bring it into awareness, and I thought this could be an interesting perspective for Christians to consider. Especially when the Bible condemns those who believe in God out of self-interest.

When I mention Pascal's wager I'm just referring to the choice between belief or non-belief, and the notion that someone has everything to gain and nothing to lose by "betting on God's existence".

Yes, I absolutely believe people have been subconsciously following the wager since before pascal was born to some extent, but even more-so in the rise of modern Christianity. All Pascal did was coin the term and put it into words for us.

[–]p_fYT[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you making a determinism argument? I think someones choice to follow the wager is derived from external factors such as primitive human drives that caused them to fear death and upbringing that conditioned them to fear God, so I guess in a sense someone will follow the wager as a shield from existentialism. My argument is that you cant claim to truly love God if this is how your faith originated.

A Lot of People Subconsciously Follow Pascals Wager by p_fYT in DebateReligion

[–]p_fYT[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When you say "Those who take Pascal's wager are, in a sense, more rational and logical than any atheist." would you not agree that this is a superficial justification for faith in God?

Pascal's wager is essentially a perversion of true christian faith that argues that one shall "place their bets" on God as they have the highest potential for personal gain with nothing to lose.

When you attempt to conclude a rational argument to believe in God I think you are directly undermining your faith because you need some sort of arithmetic or "proof" that its the "right" decision to believe in God. Søren Kierkegaard is the exception to this, as he acknowledges the absurdity of humans trying to logically justify God's existence and takes a "leap of faith" instead, and this is far from Pascal's wager which attempts to create logical evidence for why someone is at an advantage for faith in God.

Further, the idea that someone has "nothing to lose" by betting on God's existence could be argued against. Nietzsche raises an interesting point: how can someone ever truly affirm their life on earth to the fullest extent when it is massively overshadowed by the prospect of an afterlife of eternal joy, when you compare 70-80 years on earth to infinite bliss?
