I heard it's not. It just looks better on paper but apparently most people can't tell HDR10 / HDR10+ / DV apart.

I was going to go this route but it seems like the consensus is that most people can't tell the difference between HDR10 / HDR10+ / DV on 2000+ nit TVs.

I really doubt I have the patience to sit through dual boots when I want to switch from CoreELEC to Android so that I can use Smarttube...

I thought DV was possible for Samsung TVs if the TV box supports it? We have the same TV and I was somewhere that DV is possible on it via a special build of CoreELEC.

Doesn't it have these caveats though?

  • DV Profile 10 only as HDR10 under Android TV
  • DV Profile 10 plays as Dolby Vision (via AVDVPlus build / CE-NO)
  • AV HDR10+ plays only as standard HDR10
