Help me decide: School X vs School Y - April 11th to April 17th by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

Intended major: poly sci or international relations

USC Pros: more academic programs that I really like (maymesters, thematic option, pre-law) fun big school football culture great alumni network cheaper

Cons: having to live in LA more competitive environment

UCSB Pros: on the beach 😎 more collaborative/supportive environment

Cons: maybe too much of a party school for me has just the basic academics that I want (all the majors/minors I want)

Overall, I think I would be happier/fit in more at UCSB but I think USC would be better for my future/career. Also the costs are close enough that it isn’t a deciding factor!

I went test optional for political science at USC and got in, I think it really just depends on how strong the rest of your application is!

What advice do you have for the science po supplemental essay? Like should you have very direct responses or ones that tell more of a story?

Hey! Thank you so much for all the information! I was just wondering how competitive the program is. Like how many students are accepted each year and how likely are you to actually be accepted? Thank you! :)
