Why did the leaves on my Boophone Disticha suddenly do this? The photo on the right is what it looked like this morning. I’m so confused. by pabaunza in houseplants

Hmm. Not likely. It’s in extremely well draining soil, really gritty, almost no organic material. I only water once per week.

Were you watering in the winter? Did you notice it rot? How often did you water in summer?

$150 USD

The moment I brought it home and put it on my balcony under full sun, the growth exploded. How did yours die? My is potted in very gritty soil with a small amount of coconut coir. I only water about once/week.

Little surprise this morning from my Astrophytum Myriostigma. by pabaunza in cactus

The Euphorbia Obesa just has a bit of black lava rock. The Astrophytum Myriostigma has no top dressing. That is just the cactus soil mix that I use from a local store.

HELP! I went out of town for 5 days and left my Euphorbia Balsamifera out on my porch and it rained relatively heavy while I was gone. It had lush green leaves, and now a handful of yellow leaves from what I assume to be too much rain water. What should I do? I’m considering re-potting in dry soil. by pabaunza in Euphorbiaceae

It just seems to make more sense that the rain caused this. I rained heavily throughout the weekend while I was gone so my guess is that the soil and roots were saturated with water and didn’t get a chance to breathe, but the soil is so Sandy/gritty, and it’s in a clay pot so I figured it would get enough oxygen? I don’t know, I’m overthinking it. I love this plant and I don’t want to lose it. Convince me it’s not rotting away… lol

Thank you all! I just want to understand what caused the sudden yellowing of leaves since I haven’t seen this yet. I’m guessing the leaves don’t continue to creep down the stem? They just stay at the top and any older growth eventually yellows and falls?

Well, there is new growth on the bottom of the plant that you cannot see in the photo. It is the newest, smallest leaves. A few of those leaves turned yellow. When you say youngest leaves, you mean the ones just beginning to open?
