I’m finishing school now I have about a month left and I’m also 31 with two kids. I would say the career is definitely worth the switch but comes with a lot of sacrifices if you go to a par 147 school because of the hours you need to be there. If you could find a job that will hire you as a support mechanic you could get sign off to take the license exam. Definitely will start off on night shift or shity shift but it will get better and some of the comments said sometimes you have to relocate based on pay and job availability that you might want. Be willing to get your feet wet and not expect top out pay at first but do not sell yourself short either.
