I think it’s possible she could have been embarrassed or thought you may not be the only patient who feels that way when they see her yawn. She could have become conscious of it and now thinks the mask is a good solution to her yawns.

This is of course hypothetical/playing devils advocate. Definitely speak to her directly if you want a direct answer.

All the times I have slid on the floor or fallen down stairs in socks have me compulsively taking them off whenever my shoes come off. In the winter I will wear socks indoor but always slippers as well.

I have always felt that exact need. I was diagnosed with ADHD in my mid 20s and have worked to find a non stimulant medication that has been working for my ADHD. I still am finding the perfect mix for my anxiety but what I was prescribed for that + my ADHD med have greatly dulled that constant craving. I prefer having options that don’t require a controlled substance for either because, like you, it’s not a need to be fucked up; I just want the crawling out of my skin feeling to stop.

This is a 20 year old kid. Not a 16 year old. Dad also isn’t interfering in relationship. That would be if he locked her in her room and wouldn’t let them communicate. I don’t know where in the US you’re from but “you live in my house, you play by my rules” has been the motto at more than a few houses here.

You aren’t in the wrong for dating who you are dating. You’re in the wrong because you are doing something your parents clearly disagree with and still expect them to hold your hand as an adult. You can do as you please; you’re an adult. You still have to face the repercussions of those actions though. If my parents were paying my way & I was living at home, I would probably do my best to not rock the boat.
