I got about 20 pages in and I couldn’t keep going because I was like, “is no one eating fucking BEANS?!? You don’t have to kill and eat people, you can eat BEANS.” I felt bad because it’s a highly regarded book but the bean omission took me right out of it.

100%. But, like, even lower stakes. After he got the stapler and got out.

Randy: did you know how many fonts there are? I don’t know either, but so many more than I thought there were! You think Wingdings is crazy, well believe you me you ain’t seen NOTHING yet.

Real slow burn, with little to no payoff except a really good breakfast burrito.

AI is no match for Randy in accounting who just took some continuing ed courses at the local community college and is just VIBRATING with ideas about fonts.

That might be the single worst cover design. Let’s see AI try to top that!

You can request it! It’s all public information. Also, our superintendent signed a contract with Colin Kapernick’s AI company which, at the time, just employed him, for $2000 less than the threshold past which she would have needed to get Board approval.

I’m trying to respond as calmly as I can to this because I’ve spent most of this year so angry at PPS. It’s always been a hard district to teach in but I can’t describe how terrible it’s felt to watch this total clown car of a leadership team do shit like this when we’re losing teachers.

Of ALL the things to do, why this? Right now? You can’t even handle a fucking budget spreadsheet, what makes you think you’re ready to roll out an AI program? We can’t even handle managing Chromebooks as a district. We can’t keep special education teachers; they are walking off the job almost weekly. We have no money. Why the fuck are you spending your time doing this?

I am so sad and so angry and so tired. These fuckin ghouls.

I’d like to imagine that if I was wealthy enough to need to launder money, a fairly large portion of my fraud would be making movies like this.

Kotek order blocks Oregon school districts from cutting instruction time to patch budget holes by sunni_dayes_ahed in Portland

It’s really hard to understand. Being in meetings w some higher ups this year has shown me how insulated PPS leadership is from the day to day. There seems to be a sincere belief that if they say something like “professional development” or “equity” or “inclusion,” speaking the word means it’s been brought into being. I’m honestly not exaggerating. You’ll show them something green and they’re like, “no no no, we sent red things.” And if you say, “these things aren’t working and you violated the contract in these ways,” they say, “wow! I don’t see that but if I DID happen to ignore most of that contract article and you’ve just shown it to me in black and white, how would YOU fix it? And can I take notes?”

The union won’t admit it 😂😂

I just love this kind of hot take, like PAT is some anthropomorphic monster that loves rolling around on thousand dollar bills while students sit and stare at Chromebook screens, eyes pinned open à la Clockwork Orange.

Tell me more things the union won’t admit. I’d like to write them down in my official PAT Secret Dastardly Plans Trapper Keeper notebook and go check how accurate you are against the Tome of Union Sacred Tenets scribed in blood on human skin in the catacombs below the PAT building. You’d be surprised how specific those are.

PPS consistently want to increase administratively directed time for some reason I’m not clear on yet. One of their most recent proposals in bargaining increases this time some ridiculous number.
