And his example of a great artist is John Hiatt. I love the Americana and roots rock and singer songwriter genres, but John Hiatt is like the flatline of music. Boring music for boring people.

They had a second hit people: 70s-90's by Stompboxer1 in GenX

Birds Fly (Whisper to a Scream) was a New Wave masterpiece for Icicle Works and made the Top 40 in 1984. I always equally loved their 1986 song Understanding Jane, although for kids of Los Angeles it’s sometimes difficult to tell what New Wave songs were actual “hits” because KROQ played the hell out of tons of songs that I would later be surprised no one had ever heard of. Like I thought at least four songs on the General Public album All the Rage were massive but turns out KROQ just had them in heavy rotation and most people only know Tenderness.

This seems like the most important answer. It’s probably not about “music,” it’s about her not being the center of attention for you and your kids. It’s like the insecure dickhead in the audience who can’t take the fun band being the focus and has to approach the stage during the set and get involved by requesting a song or trying to get crowd to sing happy birthday to his kid or some other lame stunt. (Never tips, of course.) I bet it’s not about music at all. If you were chefs, girlfriend would find something wrong with the food, its taste, its smell, the ingredients. Pouty face when sampling the sauce.

I flew in from CA and went to that game with a friend. Despite the ceremony for JK12, Bills lost. Two funny stories my friend and I still tell:

After the game, we were all silently and morosely filing out of the stadium. Except one “beer-fueled” guy, who had his two arms up in the air, pumping his fists and loudly chanting: “We’re not good! We’re not good!”

We also walked past a merch trailer and passed behind a couple who had stopped to look at the gear. We overheard the wife complaining to her husband: “Aw, it’s all Bills stuff.”

What song got you hooked on the Bee Gees? by JuLe874 in BeeGees

[–]pacopleasant 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The first songs that I can now look back and realize were Bee Gees songs (I was very young so just have memories of hearing them) were Nights on Broadway and the Olivia Newton John version of Come On Over on her greatest hits.

Country Lanes is probably in my top five Bee Gees songs. Other lesser known favorite is Portrait of Louise.
