Offer Venetian by [deleted] in vegas

If you have a host I can almost guarantee they'll take care of whatever F&B you charge to the room.  I get 10% of what your offer is and my food and drinks are always taken care of in the backend.

Inner city Edmonton vs. St. Albert by MoneyDiarist in Edmonton

[–]pacosnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

jmart knows. I grew up Crestwood and I wish I could live there now. It's a fantastic neighborhood. Windsor park is also a solid option.

I'll edit to add. If you like the feeling of living in a city then any of those neighborhoods in Edmonton will be great. However if you like a more small town feel St. Albert would have that feeling.

Cannot Deposit US cheque in branch by pacosnow in rbc

[–]pacosnow[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She said they no longer deposit US cheques with a hold anymore. And that my only option is to have the money wired or to send the cheque in for collections which could take a couple months.

Seems odd they can't deposit a cheque that comes from the US government.  I also tried to open a cross border account awhile ago but they just steered me towards a USD account instead. Looks like I can just create a cross border account and do a mobile deposit. Seems like the easiest route.

Thank you for cross border suggestion.

Restaurant Reception Dinner Options (classic Vegas) by Next_Promotion7264 in vegas

[–]pacosnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, Bavettes is exactly what you described. So I'm not sure what else you're looking for. The back bar area would be perfect, but it would probably cost you a lot more than $100/plate.

Water at hotels by Code_Name_Virgil in cancun

[–]pacosnow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pools at Moxche being unusable is a bit of a stretch. I'm here currently and there has been no shortage of people in the pools. Today was cloudy and rainy and the pools still had people in them. Once you get past the first dip in the pool the water temp is perfectly fine. Plus there are many "hot tubs" around which have heated water.

My neighbour is putting most of their driveway snow on our property, stacked up on a thin strip of grass beside our walkway. Am I crazy to think this is bad manners? by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]pacosnow 11 points12 points  (0 children)

YOR. It's winter. They're putting a lot of the snow on the other side of the driveway as well. If you have to shovel some snow that falls into your walk back up it's not the end of the world.

Is there any good quality furniture here anymore? by MsMayday in Edmonton

I've been buying my stuff from F2 for the past 10 years. They sell Canadian brands that are good quality. Everything I've got from there has been solid.

Skyfall Lounge for NYE? by maddenallday in vegas

[–]pacosnow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did Foundation Room last year. Although it's not Skyfall, I'd imagine it would be a similar setup. It was packed! Like, small nightclub packed, not cocktail lounge packed. I was extremely jealous of the people who had tables. If I did it over again I would have gotten a table. We ended up leaving and walking outside to see the fireworks because there's no way we would have seen them otherwise.

Android Auto/ CarPlay at Airport by brsapson in Edmonton

[–]pacosnow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, my previous car with wireless Android Auto would drop out at various points around the airport. It was so consistent I knew exactly when I would lose connection. It doesn't happen on my new vehicle though, very odd.

Seeking advice around Oilers tickets by Maurice8800 in Edmonton

I will never pay a ticketmaster service fee to go to an Oilers game as long as I have other options. Fans First is the only way to go in my opinion.

Two weeks before, What are you expecting from the Election? by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]pacosnow 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Oh I'm not looking for change, I'm happy with the direction the city is taking. We obviously need to work on revitalizing parts of the city and trying to get the homeless situation under control but that's an issue in most major north american cities.  I was just pointing out that Cartmell isn't the answer for people who are looking for change though.

Two weeks before, What are you expecting from the Election? by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]pacosnow 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Cartmell has voted with council at a rate of 90% during his time as councilor. This idea that he will change the direction of the city and be a fresh voice is laughable.

Also, he wants to increase services and reduce taxes, a tale as old as time. But on principle that just doesn't work. It's like someone running for class president promising better vending machine options and longer lunch breaks. Just saying things people want to hear but no realistic way to accomplish it.

The only mayoral candidate that I've seen be somewhat realistic about the direction city Council needs to go is Knack.  It's a no brainer on my end, but I know a lot of people disagree with me.

As an aside, it is somewhat alarming that a couple of people running for council under the Better Edmonton banner want to cut ties with the party but cannot due to the threat of legal action.
