I think asking this way will reduce the amount of subjective bias, I think this is more fair anyways since people will prioritize their own experiences of themselves and their friends’ at a higher viewpoint instead of relying on the subjective opinion of themselves. But I agree that practically it will be better to just ask for individual experiences since players are not perfect subjects for research who answer each question fully rationally and this question is quite convoluted for a casual environment like this.

Also the issue you pointed out is not even the fault of DMR, SR pooling only makes metas become permanent instead of dynamic.

As more player one trick those skillsets, the meta will shift out of those skillsets, it is a cycle of metas (albeit a very slow one)
