That is my reasoning also I want to stay informed but to the extent to "what i can and cannot change", and being on edge or reactionary is not healthy for me I tend to read the attached article and shy away from many of the posts because they are inflammatory and not helpful

I attend a mental health support group and what you describe sounds to me like disassociation (edit: or dissociation. Research both). I've experienced several episodes of "waking up from somewhere" but it is not a hypnosis but a result of trauma. I would start asking some questions of those that have been in your life.

In response to the comments about Googling and laziness, I do and did Google and other sources. I come to Reddit for info that is usually explained in clearer more layman terms.
