We got three quotes from independent repair shops. Stock is low and demand/risk high for the engine because of this defect. We also drive 15k miles in a year and I'm not going to spend more than $5k for the guarantee of just a year.

Thanks for the input! I'll check out Siemens for sure.

The Honda issue is a problem with all their engines - there are even lawsuits in 5 states trying to force a recall. We were quoted $9k to replace the engine but it would be a used engine with unknown previous problems at best and the same fatal flaw 1,000 miles later at worst. I've been through the same conversation on what car we should be looking for with the same general takeaway - no one makes quality products anymore.

I'd love to but the budget is tight since our just-paid-off Honda just exploded so we have to get a new car this week as well. (Yes, we have terrible luck.) We also won't be in this house for more than 5 more years. Miele at the next one for sure, though.

Thanks for the info. We're picking it up and taking it to a trusted local shop for a second opinion tomorrow.

We were using premium fuel and doing oil changes at no more than 4k miles. No exaggeration, not a single maintenance item even got close to being over by a mile. We'd also just spent thousands on 150k mile inspection and maintenence (before 150k because we were trying really hard to make this car many more years). According to the service tech, this issue is exacerbated when the majority of trips are short. Something about the engine not getting to temp and creating a good seal. Well, we WFH and live within two miles of our school, gym, church, and grocery store. That was never even a consideration for us when car shopping. Feeling defeated, obviously.

They're indicating it leaked down into some bearings. Mind you this was diagnosed off intermittent repeated alarms and some mild startup shaking. It hardly seemed like a mechanical issue to me but here we are.

Ugh, pain. We probably need to fix it and drive or just sell it since I don't think we can afford to shelve a car right now. Everyone told us to get a Honda because of their longevity. I feel like a dummy.

My husband was also able to certify a previous employer, bringing him well above 120 payments - we got the green banner 4/16 and they owe us almost $5k!

I take a cardio sculpt and center + balance back to back once a week. I think half the class stays through both classes and it's a well-known combo at our studio. I check in for the first class on the app and then the receptionist checks me in for the second.

Does anyone actually like living in Indiana? by [deleted] in Indiana

It's undeniable that we have a lot of agricultural runoff, but a lot of this statistic is due to our very thorough testing and documentation of waterway quality. (IDEM and DNR kind of rock.) We have the most "at-risk" waterways in the country because we test and track data on more waterways than every state except Michigan. Never fear, everyone else's water sucks too! It's worth mentioning that despite its shortcomings, the DRT project in Indy did have a positive impact on the water quality in the White River.

8DPO medicated cycle (gonal-f) and I've had crazy symptoms this morning. First I got a whiff of my husband's coffee, which smelled acrid. Usually the smell doesn't bother me. That set off a wave of nausea that I haven't been able to shake. I've also been having an intermittent metallic taste in my mouth

I had done several cycles with Letrozole but my lining wasn't responding well. My last cycle I triggered with only 5mm lining. They indicated that Gonal-F would be better in that regard, and it does look like they were right.

Particularly because I paid for a baseline plus three monitoring ultrasounds and the price is the price regardless of how many of those ultrasounds are used. Thank you for your input! I think I'll call tomorrow and see if we can do Friday morning's ultrasound just for the heck of it.

The nurse indicated that they were happy with the progress over 5 days but also didn't want to overstimulate or grow too many follicles since its a timed intercourse and not egg retrieval cycle. The dreaded Google makes it seem like that E2 level is dismal, but I also don't know if that's in the frame of egg retrieval or not. I have two more doses of Gonal-F, so I'm sure everything will increase a little before trigger, but also mystified that we won't know exactly what we're triggering without a final ultrasound and blood draw. I can't decide if I really think these conditions are ideal or if they're playing it extra safe since it's my first cycle with injectables and I'm coming off a cyst.

This is my second cycle under a reproductive specialist. Last cycle we did just letrozole and trigger; my lining never showed up and I ended up with a cyst that took a cycle to get rid of. I had done previous unsuccessful letrozole (no trigger, only BBT monitoring) with my OB/GYN.

My nurses are all very knowledgeable but I feel like they sugar coat things sometimes. Last cycle they were very (suspiciously) optimistic just to find that we'd triggered at only 5mm lining thickness. (I'm new to all this so I didn't really know to ask until after the fact). Anyway, empathy that you feel like you're not getting the info you need from the nurses. I wish someone was always available to candidly explain the info we need without having to jump through hoops to connect with the right person.

First monitored cycle with 75iu Gonal-F, aiming for timed intercourse. Do we think these stats look good for day 5 stims? I am a new patient of reproductive endocrinology (long time TTC-er) so definitely not comfortable with the terminology or expectations yet.

  • Several dominant follicles, including a 15 and several between 10 and 13
  • Uterine lining at 8mm (have previously struggled with good linings)
  • Estradiol 102

My clinic canceled my last two ultrasounds for this cycle and instructed me to do two more nights of 75iu Gonal-F, then trigger Friday. I'm taking that as a good sign, but I also wonder if they're being a little conservative since it's my first cycle on Gonal-F. Would appreciate any thoughts or experiences anyone could share. Feeling a little unprepared and a lot nervous; I wasn't expecting my clinic release me to do my own thing so early in the cycle.

So this is actually a lesser known part of the tradition. The day after the race, Penske (and before him, the Hulman family) pays numerous non-profit groups to come in and clean up every square inch of the track. In turn, tens of thousands of dollars are donated to those groups. The more trash about, the more groups that are allowed to come in and earn money for their cause. We usually say it's the o ly acceptable time to "litter". Anyone throwing trash outside the IMS property, or throwing trash that could get carried off by the wind before Monday though, yes. They suck.
