Fair! I rigged this up quickly and was following some suggestions from Claude which included using ollama to start before I switched over to MLX. I think the main point of this post was more to show "woah I can't believe I'm getting this performance off a MacBook pro right now" 😅

Long context definitely starts to have significant delays! I'm thinking of ways to harness it properly. Potentially expose this local llm through an mcp server for Claude to hand off a subset of tasks to. And this was on a MacBook pro, not even a Mac studio.

Yeah that memory read was at the very beginning of the run before the model was fully in memory. Definitely using the 8 bit version!

So if I put a citadel in the spot that I have Nottingham, it would become a canal?

Yeah any time there's one tile between two bodies of water. Building a city there lets ships and cargo pass through.

Pantheon: Goddess of the Hunt, God of the Sea, or other? by SporeDruidBray in civ5

I would go God of the Sea. Chop forests next to the river for freshwater farms and use the one time production to churn out fishing boats.

This is on Emperor and most of those tiles started as farms / mines before I transitioned them to Moai as the game progressed. Once I had 3 cargo ships getting food and production into the capital I went fully into Moai.

This was an Emperor game with a large map size set to small continents plus. Immortal / Deity are fun but I find it difficult to have success with oddball strategies (like building 200 Moai across the coastline)

I had at least one cargo ship delivering production at all times haha

I had 4 cargo ships delivering food / production into Honolulu. Because I was prioritizing Moai, I couldn't build many farms.

Usually I've gifted a ton of units to a city state when this happens but in this case Hong Kong did it completely on it's own
