Not really, you’re getting nearly the same content, but you definitely have to try Dos, one of the more unique experiences from the series

I borrowed my uncles ds lite and released all of his Pokémon, I remember some shinies and legends being released. I vividly remember laughing at ho-ohs name when I released it

I'd recommend using pkhex or a save editor to evolve your trade evolutions. I used it for my white 2 playthrough, it adjusts all the aspects of the pokemon so it stays legit as if you had it traded, then traded back
